Please keep in mind they did not put AMS intakes up against these others. And what AMS does differently then these other manufacturers is they re-use and engineered their intake around using the stock MAF housing and location. Additionally, most stock ECU’s require a red lash of some sort for performance changes to be truly beneficial. Food for though.

Wow, you'd think with not just one, but two intakes combined with a twin turbo forced induction setup, that you'd see some really nice gains. The gains were definitely noticeable by only dropping in dual K&N filters into my stock Q50 3.7 at the time. The gains were very noticeable, in fact very impressive feeling after having my custom twin Optimus long tube cold air intakes installed. The EcuTek tune shortly after improved the power even more. That's just with a naturally aspirated V6. Forced induction is supposed to respond much better to mods than NA does. I'm shocked it doesn't here though. I'd never believe it if I hadn't seen a bunch of your videos before. I wonder why this is?

You can always go with a better panel filter as long as it's dry flow but it doesn't really deal with any extra performance. And those performance controllers just make the gas pedal more reactive very much like a pedal Commander

Abe Choucair .... I don't like gauze oil screen air filters. IMHO fine dirt, and oil vapor can cause trouble. Many MAF's need to be replaced or somehow cleaned. They do filter better than just window screening, and that too "filters" and flows real good. Just get a Wix Cellulose air filter and you will get close to the flow (210 CFM) of a gause oil screen filter, but with much better filtering. How much is a MAF replacement or a turbo? Oh that's right the crud they pass through cleans the direct injection carbon deposits off your intake valves.. yeah that's the ticket. Lol. AND cleaning them is a messy PITA too.

Hey man, I have a question that’s not necessarily related to this video, maybe you can help. I installed BC Racing coilovers on my 2017 q50, installed camber arms on front and back, got an alignment and still have some weird shaking under acceleration.. I noticed you dropped your car as well, any advice?
@BoostInMotion6 жыл бұрын
Malandro3 could be a few things. First check your wheel balance and tire wear. Make sure that the tire has smooth tread with no indentations. And also make sure that the wheels are balanced properly. Two if you're on aftermarket wheels not the oems make sure you have Hub Centric rings for your aftermarket wheels. 3 depending how loyal you are you can get some kind of axle vibration. I personally don't have any issues and I've had to Q50 since then. Under aggressive acceleration I may get a slight vibration in the steering wheel for a little but I have no issues
@Malandro36 жыл бұрын
Boost In Motion thanks for the reply. I did everything u mentioned but unfortunately didn’t do the trick. I have aftermarket wheels with hub centric ring, new tires, well balanced.. not sure what’s going on.. I barely have any camber.. gonna try to raise the coilovers to a stock height and see if it goes away.. the car only has 7k miles so cv joints, axles should be in great shape.. if anyone experienced this problem let me know 👍🏻

Concept z tests were on a stock car. Most likely any car with a tune or a JB1/4 would benefit from a intake. I have jb1+3 and a stillen cat back. Had issues with stillen intakes, changed them to BMS intakes and no Issues. Actually my car drives better with BMS than stock, better throttle response and nice turbo sound. Just sharing my experience.
@BoostInMotion6 жыл бұрын
PR M5 oh that's pretty clausable. if you looked at the video the mass air flow tube is smaller than stock which definitely throws off the AFR readings.. But gains that are done are usually done on stock form. If you put in cams long tube headers. But remember mods are to improve what the OEM spec is. So based on that comparison OEM outperforms anything else. Also just because something feels better doesn't mean it is better. If you had the time put the stock intake back on and see if you feel a difference?

@johninnh48806 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the CAI is to scavenge cooler air which is denser (more O2 per cfm) and to flow better. But as you said more factors need to be considered. Mass of the intake "charge", its velocity etc.. a shorter intake may cause a lot of drivability problems. Also, testing with the hood up voids real world application data IMHO. I was a bata tester for the VF eng Miata supercharger, and have first hand knowledge of this stuff. Infiniti has a engineering and budget resources far beyond what many of these smaller aftermarket companies do. The stock intake scavenges "cold" air well AND flows well. Let alone establishing correct data via the MAF to the ECU. Bottom line Boost in Motion is correct. Stick with the OEM intake, and just use a Wix air filter (not a K&N).

Intakes have always been about enhancing engine sound for me, never for performance. I would hope that people understand aftermarket intakes aren’t for providing a noticeable gain in power and in most instances will slightly decrease power over certain RPM ranges. Buy it for sound alone - and usually for NA cars since a turbo muffles most of an engine’s induction sound. :)
