Because the situation is usually assessed with all deparments involved and if the animals are well enough and not deemed in imminent danger there can be the decision to not remove the animals completely as that could cause further upset and the situation could get dramatically worse. It's also often the case that depending on the age or other situations with the animal and availability of space at shelters, there can be a high chance of it being euthanised. The animals that are allowed to remain can help in encouraging people in their treatment to improve their situation. The decision to leave animals in their care could well come after a lot of group consideration.

The irony with all hoarders, is that they spend countless amounts of money (and hours of their lives) accumulating material possessions, but they leave this world empty-handed. Death eventually will pay us all a visit, and a six-foot plot (or a hot oven, for the budget-minded) awaits us all. The obsession with getting an abundance of things to fill a house, will not benefit you when your time is up: it all gets sold, thrown in the trash, or donated to Goodwill/thrift stores.
@jadiecakes3241 Жыл бұрын
Im sure it was in one of the foundation books "I will show you fear in a handful of dust". I've been working on my hoarding for years (has never been to this level thankfully) but that really resonated with me and I've never forgotten it. And now I often think about what will happen to my stuff when I die, and it does help to get rid of things, but the important things just give me anxiety thinking about it 😅 which is ridiculous cause its just stuff and the memories won't disappear if they go away.

I really like your humor :D but to address what you struggle with... Nothing of importance is gonna be in your vaccum cleaner. If you don't have idea what valuable things you have, you have too much and if you accidently suck it then it doesn't matter what it was cuz you didn't even know you had it or didn't care enough to remember :D. Have space for really important things and keep track at least by having written down what you have if you feel all of it is important. Then you'll see clearly what you have and you can prioritize what is useless or not in reality not just in your thoughts. After you have idea what you have you can ask yourself: do I have anything valuable that would fit in my vaccum cleaner? If answer is yes then make a place for it and I can assure you that you will never have to look in vaccum cleaner for anything :).

I'm almost thinking when it's that bad they should perhaps be in somesort of assisted housing. Yeah, I know that people with severe mental illness should have their freedom but isolating themselves behind junk is not quality freedom is it? Whereas if she lived in assisted housing with peoplearound to check up regularly and pushing herbefor it all became overwhelming she could have more social life and other activities, going to swim a fewtimesaweek or whatever she might really enjoy?

I can’t believe the renter is sitting these eating a banana and is watching others work. Get off your backside and help them clean yourself , so you can see all the maggots moving. You’re supposed to help, especially as you threw the first clean out with them. You don’t deserve a second chance when many don’t have even one person to help them. Take responsibility for your mess and keep your house nice.

Lived with someone like this before and she really smelt so bad that i couldn't sleep at night, and actually i still do, but we helped her out so she got better now. I just hope she won't relapse. This type of people are tiring, emotionally and physically. I was the one who always had to do things like cleaning because even if i force her she'd just quit immediately. For anyone that are dealing with this or dealt with this, i hope you're doing well.

It's terrifying. I was back to my mom's house and all the time I checked by the phone because always okay. When I was back I realized my mom is a hoarder and she couldn't control anymore. when I try to intervene she and my brother tried to punch me on the face and I was kick it out of the house after 26 hours fly. the next day I tried to contact the city hall and some psychologist however the situation it's not good for intervene because it's still not disturbing The neighbors. I flew back to my house in the middle of the pandemic and since that I don't have more contact with my family. Even though that's all years I was watching this series, I would say it's really difficult situation and they try to hurt you in all emotional levels. unfortunately I need to put the stone in my past because I can't see my mom dying in the main off this cluttering. I'm sorry but I can't

I just want to hug that lady who has OCD. She’s doing so good! I have OCD too, so I get it. I wish I could just step into the screen and go help her. I’d earn her trust and do the ritual with her, that way she’d go twice as fast when throwing items.

Sally's Lazy - she just wants people to clean her house, cause when they stopped coming, she didn't continue. and when she said "I Can't Be Bothered to throw things out" shows her true personality of laziness. Richard on the other hand is a true Hoarder.

Sally's living conditions were really bad, both times she needed help. Her hoarding being trash, is the worst category one could suffer from, since it makes her whole house completely unsanitary for both her and her cat. Poor woman, I hope she finds peace of mind.

It is wonderful that many people dare to appear on camera and seek help from experts and the community. The only thing I don't understand is how no one reacts to cats that people keep in cages 😡??? I always had an open cage when I had a little parrot, she could fly all over the apartment whenever she wanted. Is that allowed in England?
@specialbudgies42172 жыл бұрын
Under normal circumstances I'd agree. My three budgies have a room of their own and their cage doors are always open other than bedtime. They can't go to the rest of the house, as it's not suitable for birds with all the wires, hidden lighting and stuff, but they have a good time in their room. Seeing a cat, many times the size of a budgie, confined to a crate is monstrous.

The thing with the newspaper guy. He's ofc entitled to enjoyment from his things, but when its a fire hazard that can take not only one life, but a whole neighborhood, then you have to say stop yknow. You can condemn a house for being a biohazard, but not a fire hazard?
