@@KingCanada I defected from Toronto to Ottawa during the Sens golden age in the mid 2000's and I'm thankful for Melnyk at least getting them to the finals, and nearly a second time, BUT he turned into Harold Ballard and it made me leave the team. At least with his death I have hope again and hope the team can return to relevance like the Leafs did after Ballard died.

As a Capitals fan who remembers the early days when the team started to win and make the playoffs, it's sad to hear of the passing of Brian Murray. He could never get over the hump so eventually he was fired, but I think he may have been the best coach in team history. It's a shame that he couldn't win the Cup for Ottawa or that he didn't live long enough to see the team he first helped make a contender win the Cup in 2019.
