2011 Pirates were barely above mediocrity to start but sucked in the 2nd half after Jerry Meals fucked us over. 2012 Pirates were awesome in the 1st half then COLLAPSED in the 2nd half. 2013 Pirates finally put the pieces together only to come up a couple games short of the Cardinals in the regular season and then 1 game short in the playoffs. 2014 Pirates regressed slightly but still made the playoffs, falling just short of the Cards again, only to run into a buzzsaw in the form of Madison Bumgarner. 2015 Pirates season was to be the culmination of 23 years of despair as everything came to frution. 98 wins and the 2nd best team in baseball. Unfortunately the best team in baseball happened to be in their division. Whaddaya know, THE FUCKING CARDINALS! And again they ran into a buzzsaw in the Wild Card game. Then the 2015 offseason happened. This was their chance. This was their opportunity to make those perfect additions and overcome those pesky Cardinals (and get back at the Cubs, too). Unfortunately, their cheap-ass owner was only concerned with limiting payroll and didn't do anything to improve the team. Couple that with their franchise player having the worst year of his career and the coaching staff failing to adapt to the "Statcast Era" and you have a recipe for a return to mediocrity.

You’d have to see women and children as nothing more valuable than your job or house in order for that to, in any way make sense. The Rays fleeced the Pirates. Now how will they get fleeced when they Trade Josh Bell? Christmas Eve: Josh Bell has been traded to the Nationals. Knowing past trades, Bell is gonna smash 40+ homers in 2021. As for the two pitchers they got back, they will be studs... when they eventually leave Pittsburgh. January 2021: Looks like Joe Musgrove has joined the Offseason Champions known as the Slam Diego Padres. That Rotation got even better. As for the Pirates, this is probably a team that might lose more than 120 games next season. February 2021: Chris Archer goes back to Tampa Bay. This is the part where we laugh hysterically. Oh and Taillon got traded to the evil empire in New York.

Your point about being "competitive" is painfully on point. It's the worst thing in baseball to consistently win 80-85 games or so. Enough for a winning season, but rarely enough to make the playoffs. And not bad enough to get high draft picks. So it's a vicious cycle. Glasgnow: Ace and stud for the Rays Cole: Dominant Ace for the Yanks with a massive contract Cutch: Still mashing in his mid 30s for the Phils Marte: Pretty good piece of the Marlins offense and defense Harrison: Decent depth piece for the Nationals Meadows: Possible future star for the Rays If I'm missing anyone please tell me so I add to the list of suffering.

Jameson Taillon and Joe Musgrove solid contributers to the Yankees and Padres.

Holmes: the best reliever in the game. Archer: back to pitching solid somehow I honestly don’t know how much longer I can justify being a fan of this team. It truly is the worst team to root for in sports

Glasgnow: Injured but was amazing before injury Cole: Dominant still with that contract in one of the most scary rotations in MLB Taillon: Joined that same Yankees rotation and is rising from the ashes becoming a solid starter Cutch: Having a down year but still can hit as a Brewer Marte: Doing wonders as a Met Harrison: One of the better bright spots on a disappointing White Sox team Meadows: Prolly one of the better hitters on the Tigers Holmes: Became one of the best closers/relievers in the game Archer: Somehow pitching well as a Twin Anderson: Dodger magic wins again as he’s doing well Musgrove: A Cy Young candidate for the Padres Mikolas: Absolute stud pitcher for the Cardinals Morton: Won a ring with the Astros and still in the league as a Brave McGuire: Doing well as a catcher for the White Sox Lodolo: Upcoming pitcher with talent for the Reds Baz: The less said the better Bell: Doing God-Like things for the Nationals There’s probably a lot more I’m missing but damn…

Well Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows help the Rays to the World Series along with another traded Pirate CHarlie Morton. Meanwhile Chris Archer is a disaster

Can the AL Central deal the Twins to the NL Central in exchange for the Pirates? The Twins get a division that plays more like they do, and the AL Central continues to devolve into an utter shitshow.

I love looking back at my terrible takes. Now we have a tight-knit, thrilling dogfight for the AL Central that barring a complete collapse by one of the contenders will go down to the final week of the season (PLEASE keep yourself healthy, Byron & JD!) and two surprisingly improved squads nipping at their heels. The AL Central may just be the best division in baseball right now...

And now, Chris Archer is back again with the Tampa Bay Rays. Safe to say, Rays won that trade.

This is the video all of us die-hard Bucs fans need to watch. It's the only way we can accept what this team is and move forward. Thank you, sir. I'll buy the next Yuengling pitcher at Mullen's if we ever run into each in midst of the 40 remaining fans on the North Shore.

Guess what, after Steve Cohen sold "duh Mets", do you think that "Bob Nutting" is now the worst owner in Major League Baseball? Or Peter Angelos, or Dick Monfort still holds the title Tree?
