How would you clean a machine without a 3 way valve then?

Sorry for the super late reply! If a machine has no 3 way valve, then there are no valves to clean and backflushing is unnecessary. You'd need to just soak the basket and screen in coffee detergent solution and scrub the inside of the group.

A 3-way solenoid valve ensures that the remaining pressure and water in the group head after an espresso extraction is released to a drain as soon as you disengage the pump. Without this, hot water and coffee would explode in your face when you remove the portafilter!

@@primacoffeeequipment Ohh. Thanks for the explanation. I have just cleaned my espresso machine just now and when the pump disengaged, it ended up in the drip tray from some kind of channel I supposed which is a good sign that my machine had a 3 way valve 😁. Now I'm wondering how could a machine without this 3 way valve be cleaned 🤔.

@@khairinarif369 A machine without a 3 way valve cannot be backflushed. It doesn't need to be. You'd need to remove the showerhead and soak it along with your portafilter basket and portafilter in a solution of coffee detergent (like Cafiza) and water, then use a brush to clean the inside of the group head.
