Civ 6 | Is This Mod Impossible? Late Game AI, INSANE Difficulty - (#1 Deity Norway Civilization VI)

In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Harald’s Norway (Thunderbolt Of The North) to take on one of the hardest difficulty mods on the market at the moment.
Late Game AI, Insane Difficulty setting. Two levels harder than Deity, we see an AI capable of consistently winning the game between turns 200 and 220. That’s very fast. Is it possible? Can we win?
If we’re to stand a chance, we’ll need to play using our most aggressive, pillage happy game we can muster…

A cheeky thing you can do with captured cities that you lack the loyalty to keep is to buy settlers from them to siphion more of the AI's population away.

I do love a good pillage game and Ursa sure knows how to war. That first Golden Age dedication was hilarious though, going Free Enquiry with zero harbours or commercial hubs for the whole era to get a grand total of no bonus science, rather than Exodus for the early religion when Norway loves a faith game had me cracking up!

Habours come later - I steal a load from people. Plus people forget about the +10% science. That boost, when you have no science, is HUGE I don't have the production to maintain a religion at the moment and -3 loyalty whenever I take a city? No thank you!

Me -> constantly checks the civilopedia to see what pillage yields improvements gets etc. Also has to sweat to win on Deity Ursa -> f*cks around and finds out by pillaging the tile to see what it is. Also is clearly gonna smash this level 10 AI

Pillaging and conquering to peg the AI back sounds like a good idea with this mod, leveraging the AI's lack of its usual early-game bonuses to keep them as weak as possible. The question will be whether you can do it fast enough (to everyone) to outpace the ramp up in bonuses promised by the mod. This is gonna be a suspenseful one!

It hurt so much to see the walls come up aghhh, it was so close. When I’m Norway I crowd the waters as much as possible during a city assault. Every small support adjacency helps

So glad you're using this one. I found it from watching Ducks' vids. Totally changes the game to make it much more realistic. I never play without it now... But I do lower the difficulty to Immortal because higher levels mean you have to min/max and it just takes the fun out a bit (for me anyway). Although there's another that Ducks (and I) use with it that makes the AI pursue a specific victory condition, that an important piece.

I think it’s pretty unreasonable that a nearly destroyed city can build walls in the middle of a siege. That’s like putting a brand new tire on a broken rim. There should at least be a minimum health requirement for the walls to go up

So here's a question, for Ursa or anyone who knows about fine loyalty details. I noticed that when you click on "keep city", you always get a boost in loyalty. I wonder if that's because the loyalty pressure from the city itself doesn't get applied until you click "keep city". If that's the case, the boost here would have been massive, since Argos was getting the maximal -20 (since you had no nearby cities and so the negative loyalty gets functionally divided by 0 and then capped at 20). What I'm saying is, maybe the city could have survived... but only if the mechanics work that way. Is that the fact?

You get a +5 bonus for having a unit in an occupied city - that bonus doesn't get factored in until you actually say you're going to occupy it

I've been messing about with these two mods on All Standard Pangea Maps. If you randomize everything it is near impossible but if you change the settings around a bit and pick the Civ's it's seems easy enough to win a Religious Victory. Domination can be a slog. Culture is near impossible for me so far. And I never do Diplo but I'm guessing it is easy enough. Does it make the game more fun? I dunno, just different when you play Insane. You just have to play a certain way. You can't just do whatever you want.
