In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Lady Six Sky’s Mayan Empire with one big difference to the game you won’t believe you haven’t made yourself till this point.
We all know the 500 turn Standard Speed game setting. You may also know the 250 turn Online Speed game setting. But have you ever played the BLAZING Speed game setting, with an entire game of Civ 6 over JUST 100 turns?

This reminded me of that one episode of Star Trek where they got stuck in the outer atmosphere of this planet where time moved really fast and over the course of a week they got to see the entire civilization go from the stone age to making contact with them. Also I watched this video on 2x speed Edit: Season 6 episode 12 of Voyager "Blink of an Eye"

I found that as Mayans it's often best to stick to your 6 tile range to start with, expanding beyond it only if there's really good city locations or to claim more resources. it's still worth expanding beyond it if there's like a really good observatory spot or a natural worder.

I love this speed! It makes it more boardgamey and actually reminds me of Ozymandias. Maya is my fav civ also. And I just look for lots of farms for observatories, the production and big housing makes your cities nice and PLUMP and you can afford to either settle out or turtle since your core farms allow for the production and food flexibility.

Seeing you scroll over all the 1-turn units at the end and noticing a 1-turn spy in there made me wonder how powerful the spy game would be in this. If the gold collected isn't scaled appropriately it could be pretty unbalanced to say the least.

21:47 --> I have just played Mayans one time. I was given them (always play random leader, but with no wins) on the one time i played HUGE earth map. My capital was next to Tenochtitlan, luckily i managed to win that (despite deity) and now i have all americas to myself (since no other civs spawned there). So, i had to expand all over north- and southamerica ofc =) (The game is still ongoing, since i like to play on marathon) =)

I bought a new cheap television to be able to look and listen to Ursa Ryan laying in my bed in my bedroom. I started this new series and started worrying, that what is wrong with my colors and saturation. Tried everything, but nothing worked. Then I realized, that Mr. Ursa Ryan is in a golden age almost all the time. Normal age looks different... Luckily I didn't return the television yet. 😂😂😂

Just a story from a playthrough of mine. Onde i played a huge continente map, with only 6 civs with zombies. There i was in my continent with my 2 neighbors, there was only 2 continents. When i saw the others 3civs ont the other continent had almost no science nor culture. When i went to checkout, the entire continent was over runned with zombies, the ai couldnt even move a tile in the capital and since you cant lose the capital to barbarians they were stuck, forever stuck with the capital under siege and with 0hp. Was very funny indeed.

I have the same policy. It helps you unlock Hul'che at a good time to make use of them for taking down any city that stands in your way and the bonus combat strength for units within 6 tiles of your capital doesn't hurt either.

The Mayans have a starting bias toward luxuries improved by plantations, which combined with the fact that luxuries are continent-specific should make it quite unlikely that you're ever too screwed over by a lack of plantations for observatory adjacency. You just have to plan well, which often involves clustering your observatories around the plantations that you have, as you did in this game.

@@UrsaRyan I've reviewed your Mayan games, of which I found 4, including the current series, although one of them was a TSL game for which random map generation doesn't apply. In the current game, I see two tabacco, one cocoa and two bananas within about 6 tiles of your capital plus 3 tiles of leeway, to account for the range of tiles workable by a given city; that's usable 5 plantations. In your modded game with Pacal, I spotted 3 sugar, 3 cotton, 2 wine, 1 banana; a total of 9. Finally, in the Mayan apocalypse game, there are 5 banana resources in usable range, after you took an 11 tile stroll from the spawn location. But alas, 3 games is a pretty poor sample size if you want an accurate assessment of what a typical game throws at you. So I went a bit overboard and generated standard size shuffle maps as the Mayans until I obtained a sample size of 40. I recorded the maximum number of plantations you could fit within 6 tiles of the capital if you could move the starting settler a maximum of 3 tiles from its spawn location. There are flaws with this methodology, but it should be sufficient to get a good indication of what's typical, and it's free from any personal settling biases. Here are some summary stastics: Minimum: 2 1st Quartile: 4.00 Median*: 5.50 3rd Quartile: 8.25 Maximum: 13 *As the distribution was right (positively) skewed, the median is more appropriate than the mean (average), which was 6.20. ** Raw data: 7,13,3,4,7,5,5,2,3,9,5,6,4,7,5,11,10,12,8,4,10,3,2,6,6,3,2,4,9,3,7,4,5,9,12,2,5,8,6,12 Based on these results, the games from your videos aren't especially unusual in terms of plantation availability. Perhaps you've just set the bar a bit high as to what qualifies as not being screwed over? Regardless, you have some objective data now and can draw your own conclusions.

Hey, its Mount RoRAIma, not Mount RoRIAma :) The correct way of saying it would be just saying the sound of R + I = "RI". In English, the A would be silent. Technically, also, the "RO" part should be said like "HO". In Portuguese, R in the beginning of the word sounds different than in the middle of a word. So "Horima" in English.

The Mayan bonuses just seem like a cheat after new Kongo came out. Higher bonus and a lower penalty for your whole continent. They are geared for two different victory types to be fair though. Those Mayan campus adjacencies are kind of ridiculous.

Lady Six Sky is my least favourite leader in the entire game. She drags down Mayas potential to settle anywhere (they don't care about fresh water!) and penalizes their ability to hunt for spots with plantations to make powerful sceince cities. I would rather play a vanilla leader than Lady Six Sky's restrictive 6 tile ability

I mean you can just ignore her ability and its still a plus. Like an extra 10% in your earliest, most powerful cities more than makes up for a -15% in your later ones even if you just dont strategize around the ability at all and settle as if her ability doesn't exist.
