Excellent review! Detailed, clear, and balanced. I'm still deciding between this bike and the Trek Dual Sport +2LT. - I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs, and one question for me is whether the 350W motor might give me more push uphill than Trek's 250W motor.

Thank you for watching! The Urtopia drivers more power and features than the Trek. The Urtopia is less than $2200 with our discount link and coupon code MISSGOELECTRIC at checkout. No contest. -Producer Tim

Nice review. An intangible is how nice these bike rides are. It is really a nice, elegant ride. I Love C1P's display and sleek analog experience. Less screen obsession = better. Borderline iPad screens are bad in bright daylight glare. Plus, biking @ 20+ mph reading a computer screen isn't safe; a quick glance is plenty. I agree with the performance quip- I would love to see more. Averaging 25mph would be excellent for shortening longer commute times. I also agree that the front needs the ability to add a suspension stem. The ARES light included also seems like a no-brainer. I'm mostly okay with battery range, but I wish they'd tell the truth about range. The helmet is fantastic. But it's not MIP. Check out Lumos's new e-bike-specific helmet with a flip-down visor. #RedShift #Urtopia #Lumos

At $1300, I wonder if Ride1Up's Roadster v3 is the better choice? I love carbon *and* tech, but I'm not sure I could justify Urtopia's price.

Yes, or go with the Velotric T1 or the TENWAYS CGO600 Pro would be very comparable, weight and speed wise, but significantly less expensive.
@AlecSchreck2 ай бұрын
Maybe. But there is no removable battery, it is essentially the same size and power, and the range as Urtopias is prohibitive. Removable batteries offer far superior flexibility, e.g., charging in the office and then riding home. It's far more problematic to bike 25-30m into town, hoping to schlep the entire bike in to charge. Tenways does not expand to Class 3, nor does either ride as nice as the C1P. Plus, C1P is now $2199. It's like riding a Hyandai versus a BMW but at a much closer price. Oh, BTW..., the designer for C1P was a BMW designer--it shows.

It's one of the only bikes I've seen without a continuous seat tube. Bike builders will see that as a problem, as the double diamond provides the seat/chain stay rigidity, and the front triangulation. This bike is effectively a square which means you don't have tubes in tension and compression in the traditional way, and potentially makes the bike soggy like wet noodles. I've wondered since I first saw the Kickstarter for this years ago, if the designer is a genius or blissfully ignorant. Maybe the Carbon Fiber construction makes it stiff enough to not flex?

Structural rigidity and integrity is not a problem for riders under 240lbs. Another example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5ysp5mNbbNrpac -Producer Tim

Does the bike have to be powered on in order to ride ? My idea is to start rides with no battery on and then get into some assistance only when needed and preserve battery life
@MissGoElectricRideReviews2 ай бұрын
It is possible, but there is not value in riding with the display off. The computer is always on for connectivity. Simply ride in assist mode "0". Consumption will increase to an infinitesimal degree compared to the bike off and idle. -Producer Tim

Seems like a prototype/gimmick bike. Most of the cost seems directly tied to the frame and display/software. But an 8 speed shimano cassette, tektro 160mm brakes and a 36v battery paired with a 350w motor seems pretty average. Three easily comparable ebikes would be the Velotric T1, Ride1Up Roadster v3, or the Tenways CGO600 Pro. All have roughly the same specs and weight (37lbs) but all cost significantly less. Thanks for the review though!

It’s too heavy for being carbon. Wonder where all the weight comes from

@ kind of negates the carbon if it’s just as heavy as other e-bikes using aluminum for the same price.
