Wasnt Clint Eastwoods movie High Plains Drifter filmed at Mono lake?

Did you take down your old monitor pass video? I forgot the name of the song that was playing but it was fire and fit the drive really well

I spent my early childhood years outside Yosemite. It is undeniably an amazing place, but to me, the "East Side" (as we called the US 395 corridor).was like a whole other world

Good one: this stretch of 395 is familiar to me from that trip in 2020. Up to Bridgeport it's two lanes, so be careful! June Lake's a nice town and worth a stop; even during COVID it was very busy as folks came up from L.A. to get away and enjoy the outdoors (one of the few things this state did allow, recreation-wise). Btw, the stretch of 395 between Mammoth and June Lake has had Bigfoot sightings in the past, so if you're out on the road late at night, you never know....

You have to be really tough to live on the east side of the Sierras in the winter. When it snows in the mountains, it's basically everyone for themselves until the roads are plowed and the power's back on.

So, U.S. 395 is now 4-lane all the way into Lee Vining. And yes, the communities of the Eastern Sierras do get very isolated during the Winter----it feels so nice. Well, except for Mammoth, which seems to get a constant fire-hose of traffic, up from L.A.

Nice do-over. & after US 395 narrows to a 2-lane road near Lee Vining, it's stay that way until it gets near Carson City in NV.
