You passed the Burger Barn at :42. Great burgers for anyone interested. I use to stop there every time I drove back from Yosemite to Reno. Thanks for the video.

I've been over that route many times----last time in '99. Back in the late 70's, I rode with a buddy who was driving a semi from Bridgeport to Reno. He was on the Jake Brake the whole way down Walker Canyon. It is quite a steep grade.

It is great that you get to take these journeys with your grandpa! Never take that for granted my friend.

I must second that my friend. I never had the opportunity as I was 12 when I lost my Wonderful Grandpa.

The restaurant inside the Bridgeport Inn is pretty good. So is Mountain View BBQ in Walker, Ca. It's only open Spring - Fall. I've driven Hwy 395 from it's junction with I-15 all the way up to Carson City area more times than I can remember.

The restaurant at Topaz Lodge is pretty good too.

Nice one as usual. I got lunch in Bridgeport when doing my Census work back in '20, but went no further north; went west towards Three Lakes to work some houses about a third of the way there. Most of 395 looks good, but coming out of Bridgeport, it looks as if it hasn't seen a road crew in quite a while...

The "Scenic Route" designation that ends near the top of the Walker River Canyon needs to be extended all the way to the border because the northern Antelope Valley area is just as pretty. There's a nice restaurant at the Topaz Lodge that I've stopped at when I've gone this route: nice views of the lake, and good food too. The only problem is that you have to cut through a smoke-filled casino to get to it though.

Fun fact: The southern end of Hwy 395 is on the edge of the Antelope Valley and the North end of Hwy 395 in Cali. is in the "other" Antelope Valley.

U.S. 395 used to extend all the way to downtown San Diego. It followed the route of the current I-15 through Cajon Pass, I-215 through San Bernardino and Riverside, and roughly the same alignment as I-15 to the city limit of San Diego. From the edge of San Diego to Downtown, the route is now Cal Hwy 163.

And CA has a town called Antelope in the far northern part of the state and not connected to either of the two Antelope Valleys.

Beautiful mountains, is their snow at the top all year round?

& as soon as we enter NV on US 395, we see a casino to our right!
