US 395 Pioneer Memorial Bridge - Painting Stage 2

We will begin a yearlong project in early 2024 to repaint the structure, also known as the Blue Bridge in the Tri-Cities. The project will require single-lane closures on the bridge. Check the project page for more information bit.ly/395-blue-bridge.

Curious why this is a yearlong project? Will it really take a year to repaint the bridge?

I could see it taking a long time, with having to remove all the old paint, and more so the rust. Plus rivet repairs, etc. But, it would be nice if we could at least have a ball park schedule posted somewhere of what lanes are closed when. As it stands now, everyone is going to the Cable bridge as a bypass and traffic is backing up way down A street and 10th on the Pasco side. No road crews or police to direct traffic on 397, so it just turns into a S%^# show of people blocking intersections and a commute that should be 5-10 minutes taking over half an hour. Spoiler alert fellow drivers: changing between the left and right lands twelve times over a block does not increase the speed of traffic.
