US-70 bridge reopens

Thank you to all who made this possible!!!!!! This in an incredible achievement by many hard working dedicated people. The residents of Swannanoa and Black Mountain rely on that bridge to get to hospitals, veterinarians and to pharmacies just on the other side of the bridge. The only detour was I-40. The truck traffic on I-40 is badly needed but horrible when you have to get onto it and drive through Asheville as a way to get to businesses just on the other side of the bridge. This is the best Christmas present that I have received in 68 years!!!

Thank you, workers! 🤸‍♀️🎉 I am so grateful. We live in Haw Creek. Since Sept 27th every major artery out of this valley has either been closed (70 bridge, Swannanoa River Rd., East Tunnel Rd.) Or severely congested from the detours (240 both East and West). When the pharmacies finally reopened later in October. I needed to go up to the mall for internet/cell service and to Oakley to pick up much needed prescriptions only to discover I was literally trapped. BOTH 240 ramps AND West Tunnel Rd were blockaded. I couldn't get out in any direction! Nor could I find out why or for how long. Good times! 😂 Found out later it was bc Jill Biden was in town, doing a little apocalypse tourism down by the River. Anyway. All that to say~ I am SO HAPPY the 1st of 4 closures that affect my life every single day is hereby resolved 💥 Hallelujah is right!

Awesome ! My trip to the Charles George VA Medical Center has been restored to 1 hour 30 minutes instead of the post Hurricane Helene 1 hour 50 minutes. Hoop hoop horrayyyyyy !
