During a ceremony Saturday in Bolesławiec, Poland, the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division handed its mission in Eastern Europe to the 1st Cavalry Division.
The 1st Cavalry Division, stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas, officially took charge of the U.S. Army task force operating in Poland and the Baltic states from Task Force Marne, led by the 3rd Infantry Division.
Task Force Marne engaged in various exercises across Europe, including multinational training such as Austere Challenge 24, Allied Spirit 24, Polish Dragon 24, and Dynamic Front 24.
The task force units worked to enhance interoperability and supported NATO battle groups in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
About 10,000 troops of the U.S. armed forces are stationed in Poland, on rotating basis.
