Government is inherently evil. Liberty can only exist in its purest form, perpetual and stateless. IMO the best approach for a recruitment ad, makes sure that whoever enlists can handle war and is willing to defend the motherland, not someone who will break down (mentally) in the middle of the field.

Im a Bulgarian, and i love the add, because it motivates, but it would be great if the ministry of defence also included the Bulgarian soldiers from the Balkan wars and the two world wars, because the Bulgarian army from 1879 to 1944 had a peak performance, especially during this period 1912 - 1918. During the socialist era, our army was massive, comparing it with the nowadays one, but then we didnt have such conflicts such as the Balkan wars and WW1.

Bulgaria has traditions and history. The army has always played a big part in our culture and identity. The US on the other hand is just pushing it's gay agenda everywhere.

I know this is a meme, but to be the devil's advocate and provide an unpopular opinion, I think both ads can be just as effective, as they are targeting different audiences. Eastern Europe, and specially the Balkans, are more nationalistic. Our nations are younger, so we are still looking for that nation building things, that help us solidify our nation and our people. We generally view the nation as an expression of the people belonging to a certain ethnicity, speaking the same language. The US is rather different - it's more of a civic nation. It's like, "let us all gather together and build this nation, no matter who you are, how you look, how you feel etc." In addition, I see a lot of buzzwords and stereotypes (okay, probably it's not the right word to describe this, but something like that) in the US ad that appeal to the Gen Z idealists that want to literally fight for a cause. The way I see it all is like, "hey, wanna fight for equality? For justice? wanna feel truly empowered and have a purpose in life, something you can be proud about? Come join the army now!" On the contrary, displaying battlefield footage, even those heavily staged like in the Bulgarian one, might not appeal to the target audience in the US. It would have been a big no from them if they would see people blowing flamethrowers, explosions, people being shot at and the likes (I mean, I know that's what you would expect to have on a battlefield, but guys, it's an ad, you're supposed to attract people join the ranks. You wouldn't join the army if you'd know how life on the frontline actually is, just look for any combat footage videos here on KZbin to get an idea). I'm fully aware that there are plenty of Americans reading my comment and saying "oh, but you're so wrong, I'm not one of those pesky BLMLGTVQIA+ people that are marching the streets of New York or D.C., I'm a real patriot as well, and I love big guns, big blasts and burning things like I burn beef patties on barbecue every weekend". But, again, you're not the target audience. If you're already into big guns, big blasts, big tanks (no matter if the ones with a turret or those in your RAM pickup truck), you might be already interested into using these on the battlefield. This ad is more cathered to those that don't feel that comfortable invading other countries for oil and democracy and bombing civilians. So yea, both of these ads are perfectly suitable for their target audience. If you don't like any of them, then this ad is just not for you. /my 2c
