That was some interesting historical research. Here in New Zealand we had over 20% inflation in the 70's and 80's. Not ideal, but we survived fine.

The government needs a solution fast. There’s no way that these interest payments on the national debt are sustainable. I like Trump’s double edged approach where he wants to purchase bitcoin for a strategic reserve, and also put tariffs on imports.

Deflation = if your money is worth more tomorrow, you are incentivized to not spend. Why buy a car today if you could buy two tomorrow? Commerce grinds to a halt. Inflation? Money losing value? The answer is to never save in paper money. Always buy assets as soon as you can. And demand a raise to compensate. If you do that, nooooo problema. Stop thinking you can "save" money. You are a sucker if you do.

@RobinSeyr Tesla is not that complicated a business model, they innovate design and optimise manufacturing to create useful products that people buy. But yes you are correct that I don't understand the value proposition of Bitcoin, and won't until and unless it becomes a global medium if exchange that all countries use, rather than what my friends see it as - a speculative investment.

@@philb7942 In order to understand the value of bitcoin, you need to understand the problems it solves. You can have bitcoin as a solution for people in hyperinflating countries (solution 1), solution for the seizure of tyrannic governments (solution 2), limited supply and appropriate transportability, unlike gold (solution 3), selling electricity around the globe, which would not be possible otherwise (solution 4). Tesla is a company, bitcoin is a commodity with real life utility. Your comparison is like comparing Microsoft to a Gallon of Petroleum (a commodity with real life utility). Btc is not an investment. It is a savings account for the future, outside of the grips of governments and their inflating currency
