Most (70%) of government bonds are held by US citizens, so most of the interst payment goes to US economy, not to mention the government also collect incomes tax on these interest payments.

There are a word for this: Wealth transfer. Transfer of money from US tax payers to foreign countries holding US bonds, and to rich people holding US bonds.

The tragic truth needs to be spoken. Makes me think longer-term bond rates should be higher unless the government can fix social security and stop spending more than tax revenue.

America has been crippled by unconscionalbe government spending. Expect a decade or two of austerity, which in economics terms is worse than it sounds. Worse for the people that is.
