I was deployed as the 'Man Overboard' when I was under training for the Royal Navy. I volunteered to put a dry suit on and was then jumped overboard into the (English) Channel to see the patrol vessel disappear into the distance. Quite interesting being alone in the water. Of course, they reluctantly came back to rescue me!

Long distance swimmers always have support vessels. One reason is to make sure the swimmer is not hit by marine traffic. This guy is nuts to do what he did. He was very lucky this time.

Great video once again! I live on Aegina, Pronounced "E-gi-na" ( like Egg, not like Aegean sea) 🙂 and many vessels find the shallows in this area by accident. Aegina use to be linked to the two small adjacent islands of Metopi and Moni nearby, and hence a lot of shoals still exist in this area. The green stuff is called Fluorescein and it's completely harmless. I've seen it used to trace where underground aquifers exit and power stations use it to find leaks in their condensing systems. Also used in eye drops.

Wow. Fluorescein is expensive! And has been somewhat more difficult to obtain for use in Veterinary medicine and I assume human medicine lately. What a waste of resources. It astounds me the damage, vandalism, whatever, some of the climate awareness groups do, nothing positive about it and to me, not the way to encourage people to find out more about what they can do to help alleviate climate change. Thinking of the artwork in a museum which was targeted. I put this behavior in a completely different category than some of the actions taken by, for example, Greenpeace, back when I was probably the age of these seemingly young people.

They haven't poluted the water. Drain dye is considered non toxic unless eaten in large quantities. A tiny amount spreads well in water so it looks dramatic but concentartion is low. Guarantee there wil, be more pollutants comjng off that one yacht in a day than the drain dye caused. Oil, fuel, cleaning product, plastics. So there is a double irony - should be arresting the yacht owner too if they are bothered about pollution.
