As an Iraq & Afghanistan combat vet, this is so cool to see! Definitely VERY reminiscent of days being on patrol. You are an artist, for sure. I would love to have a piece exactly like this. Such a perfect memory. Thank you, Sir! You really made my day.

Can't believe he pays that much attention to detail then just plops the tree in a little hole without blending the earth around the stump or creating roots. Other than that pretty fucking amazing.

well done. I will say, as a veteran of Afghanistan who served with TF Phoenix (which is the symbol on the cuppola) about the exact time this diarama represents (based upon type of ECM module used) a few accuracy issues. 1. The UAH is too slick. The real combat units would have had ammo racks welded on, and would have secondary weapons (like a 240 or SAW) mounted on it. The turret ring would have rip it cans and some wrappers from food and the gunner on patrol would almost never remove his helmet. 2. TF Phoenix had very few Military Working Dogs, so that is kind of out of place. These are really minor things that only those who had been there would catch. Thanks for the great video.

This is my introduction video. It amazed me all the layers of paint you used, I can't paint to save my life and I definitely wouldn't have thought of all those steps. lol Is it fully necessary for that many layers? I'm genuinely curious. I do have one question - why do all diorama builders paint over the dirt? The dirt already has so many colors to it, it fits perfectly as is and then everyone paints the dirt... dirt colors. lol Totally baffling. This turned out really good, thank you for sharing!
@lowercentenary3 жыл бұрын
No you absolutely do not need so many layers or paint dirt...you can achieve perfectly good effects and colors even with a simple paintjob, (or with dirt simply leave as is)with some practice and experimentation and experience...go ahead and try it, it's not as daunting as it first appears.
@nanuq833 жыл бұрын
@@lowercentenary Thank you! I just sculpted a brick light house on a rock outcropping but I'm a horrible painter. It's nice to know I don't have to do as much to achieve weathered/dirt effects! I'll definitely try it out.

You, sir, are an artiste ! It was a joy to watch and while you did explain everything quite clearly, I'm sure , not many people can, even if they work with the same materials, bring out the intricacies of this scene as well as you have. One suggestion though, those windows can be improved I feel. Ordnance going in would leave a different scorch pattern than ordnance coming out. Just something to consider to add more depth to the story one is trying to tell, as it were. Well, alright then. Cheers.

a few things id do differently but the biggest would be put down the rocks, sand etc after i had painted all of the building and scenery because you're going for that sand color and texture and nothing gives that better than the sand, rocks etc that you put on and then covered with paint.
