A United States Navy C-2A Greyhound from Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40 (VRC-40 "Rawhides") departs with the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team for the flag drop at the beginning of the 2021 Great Tennessee Airshow.

I was in the first squadron to have the C-2A, it was VRC-50 in 1968. Stationed in Atsugi Japan and Subic Bay Philippines, we flew out of the Philippines to Vietnam on a hourly basis, and supported all the carriers on the Tonkin Gulf. The aircraft now is a internal part of the carriers fleet. George Sharp AME -3

@@AEROWEPHILE new doesn't mean better. The V 22 Osprey has a VERY questionable safety record.

Very true Brian. New does not mean better. New just means trading old problems for new problems. I could argue the P-3 Orion shouldn't be retired and replaced with the P-8 Poseidon. But it is happening. Same with the C-2 Greyhound with the V-22 Osprey. Every airframe has its time. You just have to move forward with the times. Cheers!
