Hundreds gathered in the Marinette Marine shipyard on Saturday to see the christening and launch of the U.S. Navy's Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship, future USS Billings (LCS 15).
The ship's sponsor, Sharla Tester, wife of Sen. Tester (D-MT), broke a bottle of sparkling wine across the bow of the ship before it was launched sideways into Lake Michigan.
AiirSource Military covers events and missions from the United States Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

Isn't that what happened to the h.m.s. victory back in the olden days? In harbor it got launched & then rolled over, they didnt think about ballast & balance.I'm just guessing the ships name, it was in England.

That would mean the design was terrible because ships are designed to right themselves. Better that they discover it at launch than in the middle of a storm.

Right? What could that guy possibly do to help by standing in front of 8 million pounds of steel moving downhill? This has to be an OSHA violation of some sort. Looks incredibly dangerous and stupid. If he slipped or tripped, he had maybe 2-4 seconds to get away. If not, splat. That's just so risky, I can't fathom it being a standard practice.

The ship was not launched into Lake Michigan, but rather into the Menominee River which quickly flows into the 95 mile long Green Bay which then joins Lake Michigan. There is another ship-building yard in Sturgeon Bay, WI, just a short 25-mile boat ride away from Marinette.

Yepper, Marinette Marine in Marinette, WI. The other side of the river is Menomonee, MI. A very short distance downstream is Lake Michigan's Bay of Green Bay and they conduct the sea trails of those ships on fresh water

Or more likely they were sunk due to air attack, to which they could not respond, because battleships were obsolete almost as soon as they became popular. The aircraft carrier was the true king of the sea in WW2. You might as well throw "Hood" in there to complete the trifecta of useless, doomed battleships.

Rainer Winkler yamato was sunk by 17 US dive-bomber planes (the small planes not the big ones) and bismarck i dont know what happend to bismarck and US ships are made of good materials and are highly technological hence why they are classed as the most powerful ships in the world

God 1. Their economy would have economically collapsed if we were stealing billions of barreled oil. 2. Being reimbursed in oil so we can use our tanks, helicopters, etc. is not stealing, it's trading. 3. The U.S. has more oil than anyone in the world, we dont need to steal oil. 4. Trump is even talking now about being reimbursed more since we were there fighting their war they couldn't fight themselves. 5. There's no reliable sources saying the U.S. stole oil.
