The performance of Ivan Lendl in US open is nothing but extraordinary. He reached 8 Consecutive finals from 1982-1989 winning 3 times in consecutive years1985,1986,1987 after loosing three consecutive finals 1982,1983 and 1984.He lost finals in1988 and 1989. He lost to ultimate champions ,Pete Sampras in quarter finals in 1990 and in 1991 to Stefan Edberg in semifinals. Essentially Ivan Lendls performance in US open is great and spectacular.

It was like his second home. He lived in Connecticut about an hour away from Flushing Meadows and drove to the tournament. The same company that did the US Open came to resurface his home tennis courts right after they did the US Open courts prior to the tournament. He should have really won one more US Open.

Enjoyed watching that again with all those different languages. I cannot classify it with crumbs falling off the table. This was different. It was an important match for Ivan and for me.

Lendl won this but ended up being quite comfortably beaten by Edberg in the semis, who was in imperious for that year.

Ja, damals war das noch echt was Besonderes. Schwarze Tennisschuhe, oh nein! In der Zwischenzeit hat es ja schon die kuriosesten Schuh-Kreationen gegeben.
