You can buy all sorts of guns in the UK. Handguns need to be over a certain length, so most have a "stock" attached If you wanted to, you could easily just remove that and you've got yourself a concealable revolver.

Shaise Surname anyone CAN'T have a gun in America. And walking up to a cop (where cops get shot and killed all the time no warning) and saying "yo can I show you my gun" while acting all shady is probably the dumbest thing you can do shy of ACTUALLY pulling a gun out.
@dandc20115 жыл бұрын
Shaise Surname there's actually a pretty lengthy process you have to go through in order to purchase a firearm. Look up videos of people trying to "prove how easy it is" and getting denied on the spot because they failed the NICBC. They even delve into a person's mental health history and some people have been denied purchase of a firearm because they were prescribed an antidepressant 15 years ago.
@dandc20115 жыл бұрын
Shaise Surname anyone selling a gun (outside private sales) without doing a background check has committed a felony. If you sell someone a gun privately (which doesn't require a background check) and it turns out the customer shouldn't have been able to buy a gun, you have ALSO committed a crime, whether you knew about it or not.

I don't get it though, you see images of men walking around with semi-autos in supermarkets, children and mums scared shitless, why can't you tell a cop you own something legal (like me telling them I have a car, in Australia). The dude in said video was acting weird as fuck, so they acted appropriately, but as a general rule, why have guns when they are such a threat to people and cops. Silly.
@ticktockbam4 жыл бұрын
@@skullsaintdead There's not much they can do about it already. They have been having guns since a lot of time ago, to the point where banning them would just only result in law abiding citizens being disarmed and criminals being the only ones with guns, since they don't care about laws. Also, why shouldn't anyone be able to protect themselves and their families? One can easily make a shotgun out of a pipe, criminals don't give a shit, so why don't just even that out?
@skullsaintdead4 жыл бұрын
@@ticktockbam I do see the argument, but it doesn't even it out. If someone is determined to shoot you, they will. If you are a safe gun owner, you will keep your gun locked away (so your kids don't shoot another one of your kids etc), so its of no protection to you. Even if you keep it on your hip (v. dangerous), if someone opens your door, has a gun, they can shoot you in the head quicker than you can react to 'who the hell is this guy...'. Even pro-gun rights people ran a scenario with an active shooter, none of them had the time to fire back. We had plenty of guns here, in Oz, but we got rid of em, though we should really do another buy-back (Chopper Reid even moved to Tassie cause they had the most relaxed gun laws, no idea if he kept his gun after 1996 but laws are used to the advantage of crims). Also, how easy is it for criminals to get guns if all they have to do is go to a gun shop or show and have some cash. Plus your much more likely to use the gun on yourself (suicide) than defend your family, which you prob will never need to do, nor even be able to do. Robbers usually just want your jewellery. But frankly, I've lost all hope in the US, so although it sounds cold, I don't care anymore when there's yet another mass shooting. It seems Americans don't care either. They can do whatever they like with their guns, just don't bring em here. You reap what you sow.

Actually, to be an officer in most U.S. departments, you have to be 21, have at least a bachelor's degree, if prior military it has to be am honorable discharge. Our Cops our actually more educated then the citizens they protect. You live in the UK. Your cops and you yourself will never truly understand what it's like to be a cop in the US. This Nation is more beyond complicated of understanding outside of being am American. I would never judge your law enforcement, because I do not live there or work as one there. I am sure they our an excellent bunch. But they work under different circumstances as we do.
@ZandeKongo9 жыл бұрын
Kourtney Lawrence "But they work under different circumstances as we do"? They tackle the same crimes, so I'd say in fact they work under the same circumstances. The difference is in how they go about doing their jobs, and this has to do with training. There are two videos showing how UK and US police take down a suspect with a knife, the results are very different. I'm not saying all your cops are bad or that all of ours are great, and you're right I don't live in your country so I don't have a first hand account. However, when you just look at official facts and figures of the amount of unarmed civilians that have been killed by cops in America compared to the UK, they don't look at good.
@kourtneylawrence61599 жыл бұрын
That's actually how we train our police here in America. Safety to the officer first. They actually do classes on different scenario's on how to take someone down. There are cops out there who are more aggressive, but we get cops executed and ambushed on simple traffic stops. Its more they been conditioned by American society to be rough or they risk the possibility to be killed.
@kourtneylawrence61599 жыл бұрын
TheoKabala89 America itself has a lot of in fighting. Frankly I think everyone is just tired. To many people want power, or think some one owes some one some thing or to lazy to work for what some else has and blames it on some kind of adversity or he said she said. Some are aware of the issues and have no voice or power to change it, some don't care, some like to fight and some well, they honestly don't know how to come to their own conclusion "the blind leading the blind". Many people holding on to race hate causing racial tensions that seldom existed in the first place. I've known black officers that killed white people and there were not riots or claim that it was racial motivated. I myself am mix with black and white and I get racial tension from the black side of my family who feel they have something owed to them because of slavery over a 100 yes ago. Its just ridiculous over here.

It is understandable really, the UK police have three years intensive training compared to the 1 year on average US cops get. UK police officers are trained to deescalate conflict, whereas US cops focus mostly on dealing with extreme situations.

You're pretty bias. First off, I've seen plenty of American cops take pranks just fine and laugh at them as well, you obviously went out of your way to find bad ones. Not to mention the pranks pulled on the UK cops were just fun and friendly pranks, but the US pranks weren't even funny and were a lot worse. You can't try and show which nations cops are better with pranks when your pulling different pranks on them, such as an innocent little coke joke on a UK officer and calling an officer fat and joking around about illegally carrying around a gun to a US officer.

Gullible? I'm not that stupid. I've seen countless videos of American police being heavy handed, murderers, evil, spiteful, hateful, rude, obnoxious cunts. I spend almost 7 years in and out of prison. Dealing with police and prison officers on a daily basis. Not once was I ever treated unfairly or spoken to like a piece of shit. American police think they deserve a reward for doing their job, they don't. They chose that career path, they chose to 'protect and serve' their community, but instead act like the world owes them something. Fuck you.
@dean80678 жыл бұрын
+jamie reid. Shame don't get your panties in a twist, the fact that you get so upset about this clearly shows that you try and prove something and you are like must order Europeans very oversensitive. And don't even get me started on how many videos I can link you to right now of how British police are also corrupt/rough or act unlawfully, and even more videos where British police get beat up because they aren't armed well enough. If you honestly judge all police by a bitch of videos then you are as dumb as a 10 year old since that's like saying all blondes are dumb. This video was not created to fairly compare US police to UK police, it was meant to insult
@dean80678 жыл бұрын
+jamie reid uuhm... wow it's sad that you didn't know Scotland is in Europe but okay that's besides the point. Again with the generalisations with you, you blame the entire American population and completely hate them and the police because of a decision their government made? How is that logical? And just don't even bring up the US troops in Iraq etc because you should educate yourself on the fact that almost all the countries bound by UN law are in that wars including Australia, Germany, England etc, are you going to hate them too now for being part of those wars you only hate America for?

If it wasn't for Americas interfering nature we would of never of went to war with Iraq and Afghanistan! You obviously don't know much about the UK or Scotland do you? Reminds me of being in a shopping mall in the UK (Cabot circus, Bristol). There was a police officer walking, laughing and talking to a woman who I assumed was a friend of colleague. There was something slightly odd about how she was walking very near to him though. But too close, without being intimate, but also quite friendly. It wasn't until I had walked past, that I noticed she was in handcuffs. I think most people there didn't realise she had been arrested.

I understand the need to not tolerate jokes and pranks as they are doing an important job and keeping us all safe, but I just don't understand the need to talk to people so rudely. Police in the UK are trained to handle social interactions. Not only do they need to protect citizens but they also need to appear approachable and helpful. If you were in serious trouble and panicked and acting chaotic for whatever reason, you should feel completely at ease to go up to a police officer without worrying what you're saying or how you're behaving. Uk police are extremely friendly and I am so thankful that I live here. Not only are they friendly and approachable but they are also extremely trained at handling security and are always on the ball. Thank you for all you do.

@astrwolf55077 жыл бұрын
Neutral Centrist Source or are you talking out of your ass?
@barbariandude7 жыл бұрын
astrwolf, it's pretty common knowledge. Here's some statistics for you: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/09/the-counted-police-killings-us-vs-other-countries UK Cops: 55 fatal shootings in 24 years. US Cops: 56 fatal shootings in the first 24 days of 2015. These statistics are of course a little skewed due to the population difference of 64 million vs 320 million, but if the shootings per capita were equivalent UK police shootings would be something like 10 fatal shootings per month instead of the 0.2 fatal shootings per month it actually is. That's not terribly surprising when you consider that the training to be a cop in the UK is 3 years of mostly de-escalation training with lots of psychological education on how to deal with stress and conflict, compared to 5 months on the firing range for US cops. The gear is also very different: while cops in the US are trained to pull a gun as almost their first reaction, UK cops, except for specific tasks like guarding the PMs house or responding to a call involving an armed criminal don't even carry guns and instead rely first on their de-escalation training, and their tazers as a last resort.

I'm trying to be as objective and unbiased as I can but you can't help but notice HOW the people approach cops in the US and compare it to how they approach cops in the U.K. and it's night and day. We see that the people who approach the cops in the UK are actually playful in tone. In the US vids, it's actually edited to omit what riled up the cops in the first place. I'd like to see unedited versions of the encounters before we can actually judge the US cops in this.

Yeah, those "Pranksters" from the US are uninspired, awkward, and unfunny. It feels more like they are trying to get a rise out of the cops than trying to get a laugh out of them, as opposed to the pranks in the UK.

DonCorleone87 Meanwhile U.K police pay 10,000 to a rapist for information, the rapist has also delt with an 11 year old. I'd rather stick with U.S Police.

Martin Mehalla; That is a particularly silly comment, they got money to get information that helped people - but in no way changed his sentence and he was still punished. In the US you can make deals and get away with many things, something that is not possible in the UK, leading to examples where the person who committed a murder getting away with it almost completely as long as they give up the person who organised/paid for it. The very example you give is of something that is vastly worse in the US.

I think an important distinction between UK and US police officers is that in the United Kingdom the police work on the basis that they are empowered by the collective consent of the people, whereas in the US police are seen more as law enforcers rather than inherent public servants with powers that stem from the government. I think the United Kingdom's approach is a lot more effective.
@bigel90976 жыл бұрын
I think it's just US people VS. UK people. UK people are a lot more sarcastic and can take a joke and comment on it, While US folk are just looking for a reason to get hurt and have a bad ego.

I find it funny how people view a few videos/articles on the internet about corrupt police in the United States and immediately come to the conclusion that it's the norm... I've lived in the USA for 30 years now, and I have had my fair share of run-ins with the police; all of whom have been perfectly kind and courteous. I'm glad you openly admit that the UK has it's fair share of corrupt officers; and now that we've established that fact, there is one thing I'd like for you to keep in mind: The USA has *_10 times_* the number of police officers on active duty than the UK (1.2 *_million_* to the UK's ~126 *_thousand_*). So, it stands to reason we would likely have 10 times the number of "dirty cops", and you're 10 times more likely to hear about them. However, it also stands to reason that there are 10 times as many good officers as well; the silent majority who serve their community and uphold the law in a professional manner. The reason you have such a negative view of our police force is because that's all you see: the negative. That's all the media seems to focus on anymore. Then, when a bad cop gets caught on camera showing his true colors, hatemongers post it all over the internet to stir up more hatred towards the USA because it's the "cool thing to do". Everybody hates the US, right? My point is this: Don't jump to conclusions about an entire country based on a few videos or articles you see online. I encourage you to come and experience the USA for yourself. I doubt it's anything like what you imagine it to be.
