I have this same stove and have none of these issues. No smoke leakage at all. It was recommended that I do not install a damper in the stove pipe so I did not. For the price this is a great stove

I added a 3-inch section of 1/4 -20 threaded rod and a coupler to the damper rod and now it's much easier to get to and make adjustments.

This is my second comment on this stove, I replied to David's earlier, another note with this stove from my experience. I too had an inline damper above the stove in the pipe. These new EPA 2020 stoves do not require one at all, says so in the manual Do not use one. So from my first experience I had, baffle up to front and damper closed a bit in flue caused this stove and pipe to burn to hot and I could see flames in the hole that the damper pins came thru. I eliminated the inline flue damper (replaced pipe) and only use the stove's damper, I pushed the baffle to the back and now have no issues with smoke ...keeps you nice and toasty!

What are your thoughts on using a grate in this stove. I was surprised that it didn't come with one.
@ureviews Жыл бұрын
I just put a kettle and pot directly on top. But it's too bad there's a curve so it makes the space less useable
@cjg431Сағат бұрын
I have this same stove , no damper on flue but the damper on the bottom doesn’t work right. It’s difficult to adjust flow. Also burn time is terrible 3 4 maybe 5 hours. This stove came with this house I just bought. Thinking about spending more and getting a quality stove. It does heat well but we go through more wood then we should and we are just getting this season started
@offgridtechnical61913 жыл бұрын
My third comment on this stove. I talked to two ladies that answered the tech support phone at Us Stove, both insisted the baffle should be up toward the front (which is wrong)...I then requested to speak with engineering and the engineer specifically stated the baffle board and insulation should be pushed toward the back against the back of the stove. Also if you should ever take the secondary air tubes out for cleaning, the correct positioning is as followed: tube with holes with wider spacing goes towards the back, tube with single line of closer hole spacing goes to the middle, and the tube with holes on both sides with closer spacing goes in front...based on the engineer's words and design schematic.

The only stove in my area was the lopi evergreen, a bit expensive but what a great stove. Large flat top, flu is in the stove not the pipe. Damper works amazing, can go from a slow rolling fire to a roaring fire or anywhere in between. 2 ash ports about 4 x 5 inches that lift out with a tool so even when it's full of hot ash the ports can be taken out no problem. The ash pan is about 10 inches deep about 10 inches from front to back and about 20 inches wide, with a handle in the center for easy carrying. And it's made in USA.

I just installed one of these stoves. I found that if I centered the baffle board it works really well. Be careful as the baffle board is very brittle, just push up gently on the center and move it, don't grab it from the front. Also to draft properly this stove needs a 6 inch diameter stove chimney pipe (minimum 12 foot vertical rise all the way, stainless steel works best.
@tman39443 жыл бұрын
what if a dryer vent was installed on this with a through wall setup?
@ebayscopeman3 жыл бұрын
@@tman3944 You still need a minimum of 12 feet of 6" SS chimney liner. I even tried forcing air through the drier vent connection when it was connected to my old flue and it still would not draft enough to keep it lit. The manufacturer states 12 foot minimum. As a side note all of the approved EPA testing companies vent all of the 2020 compliant stoves with a 15 foot 6 inch chimney so that should tell you something. Normally only a very tight home would need the external vent. Mine was installed in a cabin that is not that tight.

The top bolt hinge is supposed to be slightly loose as it will contract when hot. You don’t want a flush and tight hinge as when you get the fire going it’ll be difficult to open the door. I’ve seen this on multiple wood and multi burners. And as for the smoke, it will come out if the chimney shoot isn’t fully open, it’s got to go somewhere as you’re opening a fire... You just got to remember to open the shoot before you open the door.
@ureviews3 жыл бұрын
I didn't say it's too loose... I said that they should have made it that the pin doesn't come out.... its completely open of course...

The kindling on top isn't to heat up flu. The idea is that the coals from the kindling will fill down and ignite the larger. Medium on the bottom with kindling on top seem to work pretty good. Let that get hot and make coals. Keep feeding the medium in a little more just to make more hot coals and then put your large logs on.
@ureviews2 жыл бұрын
It's both.
@davidyummus62593 жыл бұрын
The Baffle is Vermiculite & really "should" be at the back,... The concept is that the Baffle at the back stops the heat going straight up the Flue. The heat hits the Baffle & mostly stays inside while the smoke travels forward then around the Baffle then out the Flue.
@ureviews3 жыл бұрын
Right but do you pick smoke ?
@offgridtechnical61913 жыл бұрын
Hi, David is correct in his comment. I too have this same stove and after a learning curve, the baffle needs to be pushed to the back for it to work properly (burn clean). If it is to the front, and your fire is burning hot, it will over heat your stove pipe and/or cause a chimney fire if the flame is going directly up the flue. Some older stoves have a steel baffle that is welded to the back with the opening to front. To eliminate smoke (there will always be some) crack the door slowly and wait for the fire to adjust to the air change then open the door. This is a good stove...and yes the damper could have been put in a different place...like the model before this one, up in front.

No need for a flue damper, just restrict the air at the intake. I guarantee your problem is the flue damper.

How do you clean this stove above where the insulation is inside the stove? Does this come right out? I've seen other videos where people will take apart the top pipe piece but our pipes are not telescoping and I cannot does this. So where do the ashes go once I use the wood stove pipe and can I still clean this?
@ureviews Жыл бұрын
The board is actually consumable at some point it will need to be replaced (probably). It's possible to manipulate it out for access.
@zvideoedits Жыл бұрын
@@ureviews the insulation can be removed for cleaning from inside the woodstove? Because otherwise I would need to detach every pipe piece in order to get access to the top of the woodstove where the collar is. Thank you, I will check this out and see about removing it after I clean it next time. Much appreciated!

your getting smoke because. 1-Chimney needs to be taller. 2- you have neutral pressure in your house. Preheat your fireplace and chimney with paper first to get the hot air rising.
@ureviews2 жыл бұрын
Oh no, the chimney is really tall, and this is in a cabin that's not at all weather proof. Plus we keep window cracked. plus it happens when the oven is hot and you load new logs. Not crazy bad. But still with good design this should not happen.

It’s not a stove issue it’s a draft issue, the chimney is responsible for creating draft. Minimum of 15’ from the top of the stove to the top of the chimney.
