American here. Both Canada and Mexico should impose export duties on whatever goes to the US. We're pretty reliant on Canadian energy (both oil and electricity) and on Mexican produce. Prices of those should go through the roof. I live in New England; we use a lot of Quebequos hydropower, but fine - we deserve what we get with this orange clown. Also Canada had ought to put DEW up for renegotiation. Orange menace has been going on about better defense against Russian ICBMs. What does he need for that? And... Alaska's at least somewhat dependent on Canada. Time to restrict that?

As the reporter noted, the president has provided no evidence to support his claim that a DEI program played a role in the accident. Moreover, all air traffic controllers must meet the same rigorous qualifications, making this insinuation highly unlikely. A well-executed DEI program is not about racial quotas; it is about expanding the talent pool to attract highly qualified candidates who may have been overlooked due to systemic barriers. Rather than lowering standards, DEI initiatives promote a fair, merit-based selection process that strengthens the workforce.

If Trump really wanted to improve things in the US he would repudiate Mexico's current government, go after López Obrador and his cronies and demand fair elections supervised by the UN. This would make him look decisive compared to Biden and actually reduce migration to the US and drug traffic.

Europe has as its foundation trade restrictions that American wants to replicate. Why are tariffs, restrictions and subsidies good for Europeans but not for Americans?
@rmdomainer904234 минут бұрын
No, Europe has customs duties and general safety standards just like everywhere else has. Blanket surcharges of 10-25% is not something that Europe has.

Can you explain to me please - how is it Trump tariffs will hurt Canada more, than retaliatory ? It is a bold assumption. Canada exports 90% of US electricity, 60% of oil, 49% of grain to name a few. All of these things will still be exported - Americans need them. Only now they also have to pay Trump tariffs on top of all these essential goods and services. Canada can survive without American whiskey and orange juice. Can America survive without Canadian energy ? No. So it will continue to buy it despite the increase in the price. American consumers will pay that. We here in Canada simply won't buy their ketchup and alcohol. Their exports will suffer, our exports likely not much. So who is gonna hurt more ???
@seanlander9321Сағат бұрын
Grain and oil are easily replaced by other countries, and if America decides to build or redirect power generation then just where is Canada going to export that electricity to?
@TenthCrane278844 минут бұрын
@@seanlander9321 It takes years to build power generation stations. If power can be redirected from other states, why hasn't it been done before?
@seanlander932110 минут бұрын
@ Yes it takes years to build, but push Trump hard enough and he’ll have some new coal fired ones started, which will push Canada out of supplying electricity for at least two generations and play to Trump’s agenda to support coal mining. (The power hasn’t been redirected because of green directives, which Trump doesn’t care for.)

Maybe it's not true but I heard Trump fired people who were a part of D.E.I. and that's why this chaos occurred.

Canada will not be its biggest trading partner much longer. Because of these tariffs coming out of nowhere, Canadians are going to search out Canadian products so we can be more self-sufficient and not have to buy from the US. That is what Donald Trump has accomplished.

Hello from Canada! The tariffs are significant to Trump, as a possible source of new US government financing, in advance of a huge upcoming tax cut for Billionaires and Millionaires. Once 'average' US citizens understand this, they will get to enjoy the higher costs on them to make it all possible. Trumps' Tax cut is behind all this (along with the enjoyment he gets from bullying and disruption).
