MILK DUDS ARE LIKE CHEWY CARAMEL/ CHOCOLATE CANDIES!! USA LOVES SOUR CANDY ASWELL!! So a lot of our candies are colorful, sweet, and sour. On the other spectrum, caramely, rich, chocolate, crunchy candies! Also a coke freestyle is a drink machine dispenser that lists and dispenses pop from the brand coca cola.

a coke freestyle machine is not only in movie theaters but it's in a lot of different fast food restaurants as well. it has a bunch of categories of drinks owned by Coca Cola and then different flavors within. so for example, you can tap between coke or sprite or Minute Maid or sometimes Fanta or hi c and a bunch of other different categories (many including a light/zero option as well) and within that you can get different flavors. so you could for example not only get a coke, but once you clicked on the coke option it will let you choose between cherry or vanilla etc. it's wild

Okay I worked at AMC for about a decade as crew, then supervisor, then manager… One of the best things that ever happened is in my small town rural theater, a little boy with a British accent came up to me and asked for “more dressing” for his popcorn haha Also, we popped our popcorn with coconut oil and the buttery topping was flavored soybean oil. The menu at AMC was going to be pretty expansive at one point I was in a test market that was trying out the new feature fare menu and the amount of variation in hot dog toppings and hot food offerings (including chicken and waffle sandwiches and burgers) was pretty expansive.

Oh also, the nacho cheese was pretty contentious. We had a brand for a long time and then amc switched to Tostitos and it was our biggest collective complaint all year with people claiming it tasted like vomit (it was pretty bad) so they developed a new formula and put it in the same containers as the old cheese that people used to love but I don’t think it ever tasted quite as good as it used to.

Odeon used to sell butter for popcorn many years ago. Well, it was called butter, but the bottle it came in was called "Butter biz - the biz without the butter", and was basically some sort of yellow vegetable oil with flavouring. The nacho cheese was notorious for eventually melting the little ladels used to serve them.

I was so disgusted when I worked at a theater and discovered we had to warm up popcorn from the night before to serve to the first group of customers. We would do a fresh pop to give the lobby that fresh popcorn smell and then cover the old popcorn with the fresh. This wasn't an everyday thing because the goal is to sell as much popcorn as you can so there won't be leftovers

I am genuinely shocked the UK has Candyking (one of the biggest pick'n'mix brands ever). Until now, I was only used to seeing it in Nordic store shelves, especially in Finland, and was saddened when everyone else I knew outside the country didn't know about it. Candy pick'n'mix is very underrated imo, and should be everywhere, even if it's more effort and more expensive than just picking up a candy bag.

I used to work at an Odeon and with the drinks the drink itself was always the next size down but then just topped up with ice. Most also do a kids size one (which I think was 12 fl oz) and not many did the 44 fl oz one with 32 being the largest (not many cinemas do the 44 oz one unless it's just a London thing). With the Ice Blasts the red is Cherry and the blue is Blue Raspberry and you can also get other flavours such as Cola, Strawberry and Lime, Orange, Bubblegum (we do the latter two at the cinema I currently work at). Also before I left Odeon (which was about 7/8 years ago now) we started the "Load it Up" range which was being rolled out to other branches but this included the beef hotdogs, chips (and lattice fries), more nachos toppings than the standard Salsa and Cheese (guac and sour cream). Some branches will also have a fully operational bar and some a Costa Coffee, problem is many Odeons are different depending on the size of the store and the location

Watching this video and reading these comments make me grateful for the movie theater I have in my town. I live in a pretty small town comparing to cities around it and we rarely have anything entertaining. All we have is basically a bowling alley and a theater. But, that theater is amazing. It has fresh popped popcorn (they actually show it), not whatever cheap food that was in the video, and leather recliner seats. Also we got like a whole arcade in the common area. I recently went to a movie theater out of town because it was showing something that wasn't being shown at our theater and I never realized how good I had it, recliner seats easily make the experience better.

I worked at several different cinema chains in Canada. Here you can pay for real butter. It was basically butter in a plastic Icecream tub that we had to melt in a warmer everyday. Otherwise the free stuff the butter topping is actually a butter flavoured oil. You couldn’t pay me to eat it. It used to be becel margarine that came in a big jug and looked like liquid foam before heated. Best thing I ever learned is that day old heated popcorn actually tastes better than fresh popped ( we only ever pre popped for big rentals so it was maybe 12 hours old but we often would blind taste fresh and the pre popped and everyone always like the older popcorn more but it had to warmed back up first)

@@greengameinvader2474 Honestly AMC is the worst movie theater chain in the US. There are way better smaller chains like Alamo Drafthouse and Cinepolis. AMC added a version that serves meals/alcohol to try and compete with them, but it's overpriced with inferior food/options and worse service. At the end of the day, as much as I appreciate watching a movie with an audience, it's quite nice being able to just stream a movie at home, and save a ton of money making my own food and drinks.

Holy moley! The calories and all that are insane! 😦 I’m not going to the movies for something healthy but yikes that’s way worst than I expected it to. I usually like the nachos and I just get a water cause the costs are insane but they charge you for a fountain drink even though I’m only getting water. I haven’t gone to the movies in a very long time might go for John Wick 4 though but that’s crazy

In the US, we had those candy shops with bins that you could take and scoop different ones into a bag, then you paid by the pound. Typically they were found in every mall back in the 80's. Many grocery stores also had a Brach's "pick-a-mix" table with scoop and bag, again, pay by the pound. Never seen them in movie theaters.

The cool thing about the UK ones is instead of paying per pound the sweets would have their own price for one sweet, meaning you could literally get a pick and mix worth a penny lmao. Also made it easier to steal, put 60 1 penny sweets in a bag and tell bossman its a 50p pick and mix lmao

In the US they have a shop called lolli and pops still open after pandemic. They do gourmet bulk candy as well as prepackaged candies. They also operate out of malls. I guess bulk candy has a tendency of being a trend that comes back over time, if it ever truly goes away at all.

As a former AMC manager I can tell you AMC stopped using melted butter over a decade ago. Almost 2 decades. Melted butter hardens quickly as it cools and proved too messy and time consuming. What they use is an oil based product that has butter flavoring mixed in for the topping. For popping they use coconut oil and a scoop of butter flavored salt.

I do miss the days when a movie theatre didn’t double as a restaurant. Snacks are ok but nobody should be ordering a full pizza pie and taking it into a movie. It kind of ruins the experience. Can you imagine sitting next to someone trying to assemble a giant box of nachos with 24 separate pieces? I can’t. Not in a way that doesn’t result in violence

Im lucky enough to have an AMC theater in the mall near me and connected to the mall is a Target and the mall also has a big food court with all types of food. Since the movie theater snacks are always so expensive I just go to target and get my candy. Or if I want something more filling I can go to the Wendy's in the food court and get something and sneak it in. The one thing I do like getting from the AMC theater is the ICEE, so ill get one of those usually.

Im old enough to to remember that UK cinemas only used to do sweet popcorn, and salty was just some weird thing I knew americans did through appearance in movies and TV. The salted option seemed to come in with the multiscreen 'out of town' cinemas that cropped up in the late 80's. Come to think of it, ALL cinema food was sweet at the time, ice cream, candy etc.
