As a Canadian trucker who crossed every week with my dog as security, as well as my companion, the new rules make it impossible . A CDC import permit every time?? Photos etc.

I feel so bad for all the responsible breeders and handlers etc having to go through this. It's also going to effect travel. I had plans to go to Tollermania in Nova Scotia from Texas this fall with my toller puppy. Now, I'm likely going to Nova Scotia in a few weeks before the changes. Also effects future Canada trips I had planned. My puppy is filly vaccinated, but I don't know that I want to go through all the extra trouble with this extensive oaperwork, additional check-up from a USDA vet before going, etc. This will have a huge economic impact for sure.

This regulation will devastate our breeding program. There are very few breeders of Appenzellers in North America. What breeder can keep a puppy for 6 mos? I get what CDC is trying to accomplish but this regulation is over broad and I don't feel will even address the issue. And the average dog owner that wants to go on vacation with their family pet is in for a shock, if they're unaware ....and I think most people likely are!

When I cross into USA going to dog shows I've never had an issue. Crossed over at Buffalo the other day with 2 dogs, it went smoothly. Hopefully this will continue.

This will definitely affect truckers that travel with their dogs. I am a preservation breeder of American Eskimo Dogs and the 8 month import and now the CDC 6 month rule will pretty well finish my breeding program. With only 2 or 3 breeders in Canada we will all be finished.

As the only breeder of ANKC imported Australian Kelpies in the USA, these new rules are devastating to my breeding program. Breeders don't want to hold puppies to 6 months. It puts more stress on the dogs to ship at 6 months also. The puppies come from a Rabies free country, with all required veterinary paperwork through approved shippers. Ludicrous really. 😡

I won't say "I told you so!" CKC should have put a stop to the CFIA "new" rules May 17, 2021 when it happened and nothing was done when we could not import puppies less than 8 months of age without a permit. Permits are very difficult to get as well. Now CDC is doing the same thing and now everyone is scrambling. If CKC & AKC do nothing then everyone will be unhappy August 1st.

Call me a conspiracy theorist… but this is I believe more to target Joe blow and the family pets that travel in hopes to stop them from travelling… to make it more difficult… many snowbirds do travel with their pets… I have many expat friends here in Mexico that in the summer go north with their pets in the summer to escape the heat… this will affect all of them…
