Tom's Trident looks in lovely condition. I used to own a Sprint of the same vintage. If your North American adventure takes you anywhere near Richmond, Virginia and you need local assistance feel free to look me up. Andrew Peacock

Think we are actually travelling further North past Richmond. Cave Springs to DC so its quite a way off. Thanks for the invite though.

Any chance of some links and costings? You'll enjoy the PNW, it's utterly stunning.

Wow - this is going to be a great vlog adventure - I will be ordering in extra Doritos when it all starts over there - sadly you had to experience the travelling down to London as the first stage which is a horrible smelly and expensive place at the best of times - I live in Berkshire and I am very well aware what has happened to our capital city over the years but lets move onward to riding in the big country

Ah, yes, Staines... Hmmm! 👎 I stayed overnight in one less-than-salubrious place there on one of my trips to the UK a few years back. Lesson learnt! 😕

Nice packaging job they did with the bike! What is that, a mid-90's Trident that you rode back on? Have fun on this side of the pond!
@bikerdood11002 күн бұрын
Indeed it was a trident 🔱
@martinowl2 күн бұрын
I thought the Trident was naked, with single headlight? Or has yours been converted with Daytona parts?
@bikerdood1100Күн бұрын
They sold the sprint half fairing as an option It was so popular it later became a model in its own right

@@bikerdood1100 yea I vaguely remember, was that the Sprint 3?

What accident/breakdown insurance did you buy for Canada and the U.S ?
@bikerdood11002 күн бұрын
We used NAIP North American insurance program. Very competitive and sorted us out with the best insurance plan to cover the US and Canada - Naip@motorcycleexpress.com Carrie Drazek did all the paperwork. Simply emailed them stating where I was going and she sorted everything out even phoned us from the US to electronically sign the documents. Sent the Pink slip needed for Canada within 2 weeks.

So how does the cost of flying your bike to the states compare to the cost of renting over there?
@bikerdood11002 күн бұрын
Depends how long your travelling for Be there more than say 3 weeks and the cost of renting becomes more expensive

@@bikerdood1100 Back in 1999 when i did my first road trip in the states i rented a BMW R1100R in New York city (costing about £1,500) and took a 25 day road trip to California and back . I had pondered whether to transport my Honda Pan European over there,either by sea or air at a similar cost to renting but had heard of people having negative expeiriences with US customs when going to collect their bike,plus finding appropriate insurance at the time would have proved tricky when back then i did not have access to the internet and such things would have been harder to find than today. Anyhow i know youll have a great time and will have your motorcycle related destinations already planned...

@@gntdriver2840 Mrs Bikerdood here 😊 I looked at hiring a bike for 3 weeks and it was really hard to find a company that did that. Some would only hire for 2 weeks and some wouldn’t even consider hiring me a bike from A to B and it was definitely a no go crossing a boarder with one. They basically would only hire bikes on a circular route and 1 weeks was around £3500!
@johnpejnovich7722Күн бұрын
WHAT? 3500💷? For 1 week rental with restrictions. That's just plain Nuts 🥜🥜🥜🥜🥜. Then we wonder why vehicle rentals have become extremely inflationary in the recent past. Anyways, enjoy your adventure. Be safe and DON'T FEED the 🐻.
@gntdriver2840Күн бұрын
@@bikerdood1100 yes,i guess if youre planning crossing borders its better to have your own bike. Also the rental companies know they can make more money by hiring a bike out 3 seperate times for a week each time than one solid three week rental.
