Princess Diana's new boyfriend is making waves and breaking hearts in America.
Dodi Fayed was apparently engaged - up until last week - to young American model Kelly Fisher, who is now suing him for breach of contract.
Fisher claims she didn't even know their relationship was over until she saw pictures of her fiance kissing Princess Diana in the tabloids.
A cancelled wedding, a bounced check and a broken heart - that's not all model Kelly Fisher says ex-fiance, millionaire playboy Dodi Fayed, has left her.
The American model decided to make her week-old broken engagement public after news of Fayed's relationship with Princess Diana hit the tabloids across the globe.
She chose high-profile attorney Gloria Allred to help her press a lawsuit against Fayed for break of contract and restitution.
She says the two had been engaged for nearly a year and that her successful modelling career had - in essence - been put on hold to make room for Dodi.
When she saw the pictures of Fayed and Princess Diana frolicking in the Mediterranean her heart was broken.
Fisher - who was too upset to talk about the break - allowed attorney Allred to speak on her behalf.

She went on to allude to Fayed's intentions which - she insinuated - were less than honourable.
Fisher has even offered to meet with Diana anywhere in the world - undercover or not - to disclose information about Dodi she doesn't want to make public.

Allred disclosed that the case involved a bit more than a broken engagement.
They allege Fayed gave Kelly a cheque to make up for work she had missed to spend time with him - but the money never came through.
Fisher hasn't spoken to Dodi since the infamous holiday pictures of Dodi and Diana hit the newsstands - but says his family made it quite clear she was never to contact him again.

I think she was right to sue. He had made a contract with her which had financial and legal implications in terms of her reducing her workload and he broke the contract. Also, she was not permitted to suffer the heartache privately. Quite the opposite and she did not sign up (paparazzi etc) for that either. Broken engagements do result in breach of contract cases all over the world and Dodi Fayed would not have been surprised when he was served. I always felt terribly sorry for Kelly Fisher at the time but in the long run she had a narrow escape. He was a spineless, weak man.

I remember when this happened and I thought, both lawyer and "victim" were opportunist slugs.
