Makes us proud to see how seriously Team USA takes this and how hard you guys are working to bring home the gold! Can't wait to see what happens in the next one

Very cool to see the process of dialing in a fishery and trying to bring home Gold for the USA on another country's home turf!

Hope you guys have a great day 1 of the tournament. Trying to put together a plan for "micro" fishing is not a easy task. Good luck and tight lines as you devide to conquer.

Awesome, scares me thinking back to ancient times fishing till now over there and it’s this tough for “professionals” just how bad it’s gonna be for my kids! Good luck make us proud!

Slappy is a legend. I've learned so much hearing him speak on podcasts and reading his articles on targeting Striped Bass. We fish a lot of the same water and I've had the pleasure of seeing him out on the water a few times at night. Coincidently, both nights I've run into him were the best nights of my last 2 seasons.. Whenever you find yourself fishing around Slappy, you know you're doing something right lol. I'd love to see you do another video with him one day.

The galaxy alboran is a great kayak. Takes a while to get use to the stability, but it really fast and is amazing value. Great channel and good luck in the competition
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Totally agree... very solid yak, especially for the price. Most of our teammates just prefer wider, more stable (and thus, slower) yaks, so it just took some getting used to. No issues after the first day, haha. Also, the owner of Galaxy is freakin' awesome! He was there to support the event and I really enjoyed hanging with and getting to know him.

Great video Robert. I am hanging with my daughter in Dallas for a couple of months. Thinking of making a run down to the gulf to do some jetty fishing (didn't bring my kayak).

Best thing you can do in the mediterranean is trolling and vertical jigging. Find some nice ledges on the maps and drop a jig for an amberjack or a false albacore
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Good to know for next time... although I probably won't go back to Spain for the fishing, haha
@RickMicallef28 күн бұрын
@YakFishField Yo whats up. I live in Malta its right under italy. Decent fishing here. I did land some nice size fish this year like amberjack , blue runner and false albacore.We do get some huge bluefin tuna... my friend caught a 100kg one this year, But The Best fishing spots in the mediterranean should be in greece.

The fish on the 19th minute is a saddled bream. Not venomous. They are hard to catch. Use light line and tiny lures
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Good to know!
@MrAcuta73Ай бұрын
In the greater scheme of things, I'd rather fish ANY lure with a siwash over trouble hooks anyway. Hookup rate MIGHT be tad lower, but strong fish can twist out troubles fairly easy compared to a deeply sunk siwash. Edit: If it's legal, can use a split ring or 2 and/or a swivel to drop the hook back a bit. Also reduces leverage the fish can get on the hook. Win, lose, or draw....looks like a lot of fun to me.

Why would a tournament waste your time with overfished waters? And then give you narrow tippy kayaks too? Robert please get back to Panama and back on the ever-so-stable Lightning Strike. NEXT!
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Hahah we rented the kayaks and they were actually pretty nice for the price. But yeah, built more for speed than stability. I'm back in Panama as I type this, Panama videos coming up next!

It should be difficult to coordinate all of that. Also, you will appreciate why Europeans loves to go to Panama, Miami, Mexico, Costa Rica, etc. to fish.

Those annoying fish at the start of day one could be mullet. Small spinner lures with worms on the back will occasionally take them but normally plankton and weed feeders.
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
They DO have mullet there, but they looked different to me. Not 100% sure though. Could've been

Hi Robert Spain has great areas for fishing. I have been fishing in this spot in many kayak fishing championships and it is the worst by far I have ever fished. The reason why the Spanish Fishing Federation places all the national and international events there is something I cant understand. Or may be yes but is something I wont say here.
@UberPTYАй бұрын
This was painful to watch. I told you months ago what to look for after living in spain for over a decade ago. I follow your buzos adventures since i live in pty. The first fish you came upon are most likely lisas, similar to mullet. They hit bread. The 9ne you caught after with the spiny back and dot on the tail likes bread but also worms of any kind and micro jigs. The last with the blue belly you called grouper is called a vaca or cow. Worms, chicken, sea snails or micro jigs. Looking forward to the tournament vid.
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Yeah I think you're right, they might have been lisas.
@UberPTY27 күн бұрын
@YakFishField hopefully it works out better the next time. Rain disaster a part, the Med is a very dificult fishery due to mass tourism during the summer among other things.
@BeyondthebreakersАй бұрын
Bro, dont waste your time with Mediterranean. In spearfishing world, people dive the entire day to shoot couple small fish. And you have to freedive 100-150 feet to find a small grouper. There are so many good places on Earth, I would completely exclude Mediterranean from my travel list.
@YakFishField28 күн бұрын
Yeah man, but we don't get to pick the location, and Spain won the bid to host the world championship this year. We'll learn ANY fishery. We ain't scared! Haha
@victor4822Ай бұрын
