This is the 2nd Unclecoolie video where the Kansas sky has just blown me away. It’s just like the Toy Story wallpaper. Something about the flatness of the land, and the cloudy sky stretching all the way to the horizon is just mesmerising. Loving the videos all the way from Australia :)

I have to say I loved all the real time vids, but it was nice to speed it up through the Midwest lol. Idk how you didn't die going through Indiana and Illinois, such boring states, at least Kansas had views lol. The west is the best reward though. I'm from the east coast but there is nothing like the vast and amazing scenery of the western us. I mean don't get me wrong the east had it's beauty too but it just doesn't compare to the west. Anyway love the vids man and stay save with your travels!!!

Thanks! I had several requests for a hyper-lapse video for a long time, but it was only recently that I realized that a video like this is actually watchable when the information is there (so many hyper-lapse videos don't have even the basic information, and I couldn't watch them because of it).

That gas station in Alleghany County, Va you stopped at.. I used to stop there each and every day when I was going to college in Clifton Forge. I'd fill up before heading back over to Lexington lol. It's like a 26 mile patch of road between Lexington and there with no other places for gas.

That would be kind of cool. I want to do another cross-country trip at some point. I have planned such a trip this summer, but prices rising as they are, I'm not sure that I can do it. I will be in Las Vegas for work in September, and I plan to do another road trip in and around Vegas at least. I've even thought about doing a complete US highway road trip, like US-50 from Ocean City, MD to Sacramento, CA; or US-6 from Provincetown, MA to Bishop, CA.

Here's an idea: Seattle to Miami (Northwest to Southeast Road Trip) This is a 3,297 mile route that would take 48 hours of non-stop driving. Assuming you drive at 8 hours a day, it would be more like a 6 day trip instead. Here's the trip in a brief summary: As previously mentioned, you start out in Seattle and start driving East. You have to drive across almost all of Washington, before briefly passing through Idaho. Next, you're going to have to pass through all of Montana. You'll just barely pass through a part of Wyoming, and pass all of South Dakota. You'll briefly be in Nebraska, and then Iowa. Afterwards, you'll be in Missouri, narrowly avoiding Kansas. Then, you have to travel through all of Missouri, pop up in Illinois for a while, and pass through Kentucky. You then have to travel through Tennessee, and into Georgia. At this point, you will very narrowly avoid Alabama. After leaving Georgia, you'll finally be in Florida and travel practically all of the state until you hit Miami. Here are a few cities you will drive through/pass. Washington: Seattle, Spokane Idaho: Post Falls Montana: Missoula, Billings Wyoming: Colony South Dakota: Rapid City, Sioux Falls Iowa: Sioux City Nebraska: Omaha Missouri: Kansas City, St. Louis Illinois: Mt. Vernon Kentucky: Paducah Tennessee: Nashville, Chattanooga Georgia: Atlanta Florida: Gainesville, Orlando, Miami Using average summer temperatures by state, the highest temperature would likely be in Florida. The lowest temperature would probably be in Wyoming. This is seen from these average summer temperatures of the following states in Fahrenheit: Washington: 63.8 degrees Idaho: 63.7 degrees Montana: 64.2 degrees Wyoming: 63.5 degrees South Dakota: 69.9 degrees Iowa: 71.6 degrees Nebraska: 71.8 degrees Missouri: 75.4 degrees Illinois: 73.4 degrees Kentucky: 74.5 degrees Tennessee: 75.6 degrees Georgia: 78.7 degrees Florida: 81.0 degrees The highest elevation would probably be in Wyoming, with the lowest elevation possibly being in Florida, seen by average elevation by state (in feet and meters.) Washington: 1,700 feet (520 meters) Idaho: 5,000 feet (1,520 meters) Montana: 3,400 feet (1,040 meters) Wyoming: 6,700 feet (2,040 meters) South Dakota: 2,200 feet (670 meters) Iowa: 1,100 feet (340 meters) Nebraska: 2,600 feet (790 meters) Missouri: 800 feet (240 meters) Illinois: 600 feet (180 meters) Kentucky: 750 feet (230 meters) Tennessee: 900 feet (270 meters) Georgia: 600 feet (180 meters) Florida: 100 feet (30 meters) That's it for the overview of the Northwest to Southeast Road Trip. Sources: Summary of trip, time driving, distance traveled, and cities passed: Google Maps Average temperature by state: CurrentResults.com Average elevation by state: Wikipedia

I've always wondered why you use the metric system for distance and elevation since I assume that because most of your trips take place in the US you're American. Not that I mind it though, I'm from Europe and used to it.

I am American, but I know that about 65% of my viewers are from outside the U.S. I use English units for my real time videos, because a higher percentage of views come from the U.S.

@@unclecoolie I covered that with the original 4x speed version. All four days has its own playlist, and runs the gamut from ELO to Yes, the Beatles to Foo Fighters, etc. Works great with the music (even got the song "Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan synched with the short journey up the last remaining miles of I-64. The song begins the instant the lights at the intersection with the on-ramp of 64 turn green, and ends just as soon as you merge onto 70.)

I use the Garmin Virb Ultra 30, which records GPS information. The Virb software puts the GPS information on the video, including the route line with the red dot. All of the rest of the graphics are made and edited using Final Cut Pro, which is what I use to edit the video with.

It's interesting how the time zones were formed, such as the fact that several of the western most counties in KS went Mountain time, but the rest of the state stayed Central.

Would you ever consider driving from Seattle to Montauk, NY? According to Google Maps, the drive would take about 45 hours at the most and nearly 3000 miles from one to the other. You'd probably pass through a large variety of scenery and the entirety of Long Island, while also passing through cities such as Minneapolis and Chicago. I'm saying this because I'm from Long Island and it would be very interesting to see.
