I've always shared that belief. There is a comment that the US hasn't developed the SR-72 yet. Fair enough. The point one should take away is that the US had deployed the SR-71 by late 1964. Think about that for a second.

Put on that note I did just find out that the SR-72 is just a testing platform for engines.... The 6th or 7th generation air superiority plane is a little bit different still hypersonic. And Lockheed Martin and skunk works has developed the SR-71 long before 1964 that was just the year they officially claimed it..

I live right next to HillAFB in northern Utah and we see the F35 fly daily. About a week ago we saw a stealth jet we’ve never seen before. It actually stopped and was hovering for some time, and then took off faster than anything I’ve ever seen before. It was pretty crazy, I wondered if the AFB was working on something new, sounds like they probably were.

No. They already finally admitted to designing, building and testing the NGAD in a year. And that was 2-3 years ago. Which means they got the experience and knowledge to probably progress and reduce the process from design to test flight in even less time by now. 🤷‍♂️

They are trying to develop the 6th and 7th and future generation with conventional methods which do not work in those futuristic needs. They need to develop methods that are adaptable to future generations. maybe, creating a bubble around the jet and probably anti-gravitational force would make obsolete the current metallic skin of the plane.
