Hard to believe that these aircraft first flew nearly 50 years ago (7-72), and are still front line fighters in many countries. Absolutely beautiful and certainly deadly.

From the home of the F-15, I say hello from North St. Louis County, Missouri, USA As a young teen in the early to mid 1970's and living in North County I recall being in my father's backyard and looking straight up as an F-15 did her vertical climb. I think that's why my ears still ring to this day!

To you ignorant doubters, those are F-15s from the 493rd Fighter Squadron stationed at RAF Lakenheath. NO "PhotoShopping" involved. They're flying a low-level navigation exercise in Wales, on a route that has been used by the USAF and RAF for decades. (I know, because I flew it in Lakenheath F-4s in 1974.) It's a well known exercise route and attracts photographers from all over. Great filming, Elwyn R.

So sick. I remember when i was in University i lived on the runways approach. I remember running outside like a child every time i heard Canada’s CF-18 Hornets coming in. You could tell it was them miles out, the sound would rattle the old windows of my apartment. Watching them leave the airport on an unrestricted climb was also mind blowing.
@dragondancer18145 жыл бұрын
Chuck Beef When I was in college and volunteering with the local Police Explorer post, we got to go down to Andrews Air Force Base (now Joint Base Andrews) and watch a squadron take off once. We were actually on the runway, and I will NEVER forget the way the vibration from the afterburners shot right down my spine and how incredible it was to watch them take off! I wish we had smart phones then just for the video opportunity, but that wouldn’t have happened. Oh well.

Shots gwych, Elwyn! I remember driving home from work up the Tal Y Llyn pass once in the middle of summer. I had the sunroof open and both windows and my music was a bit loud. All of a sudden a shadow came over the car and went quickly. Before I could process what it was a deafening roar took away all sound, and it was so loud I actually took both hands off my steering wheel to cover my ears, mid-bend! I absolutely love living here and watching the aircraft fly by.

I worked on a Shooting Estate, and lived in their castle, just outside of Knighton in Powys, Wales. The countryside is beautiful, and an added bonus, the planes flying around like this. I saw plenty of F 15s flying thru the valleys, but nothing like here!! Must have been fantastic!!. The owner of the estate hated the planes and used to ring up the MOD, drunk, saying they should stop. One morning after one of his tirades against the MOD we were packing up the car to go away for a weekend, and 2 Harriers flew over the castle about 20 meters over the roof. Hilarious! The more he complained, and he was a JERK, the more they flew over. Go the RAF and USAF!!!!

Watching a fighter jet maneuver through the mountains is very impressive. The only time I ever saw if firsthand was in the '60s when they were doing a search and rescue in the Smoky Mountains. Watching them flying several hundred feet below while you are at an overlook gives you an idea of how difficult their mission is.
