Anyone, no matter what branch of the service that they are in, that can perform a routine like this, is in my opinion, frickin amazing, and they have my unbridled respect. As does any member of the military, active duty or not. Thank you all for serving this country.

I want to extend a Thank You for all that have served. I am an officer of the Civil Air Patrol. Though I don not fight, I serve my country in other compacities, from training cadets as future leaders, to performing search and rescue missions for The United States. What I do though holds no flame to our armed forces, therefore I have the ut-most respect.. To which I say Thank You, and I am Pround to be an American. HUA!!!!!

I was wondering my my daughter was unusually excited when she came home from school. All she said was "I want to be in the Air Force Academy! I've just watched the best Air Force Drill Team ever!" She said these were the exact people who came to her school.

I think all the drill teams are pretty cool to watch. It doesn't matter what branch of military they are in, they all work hard and serve the same purpose. Granted the Marines look very sharp in uniform and do an awesome job! I also think the other services look pretty slick in their blues and perform great with their own technique which shows us who they are.

That is as sharp as it gets, I'm on drill team and color guard but that is a whole new level!! Amazing work, proud to be an Airmen and that is excellence in all "they" do!!

I am both proud and equally honored to have served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Unfortunately, it was during the Vietnam Era, which was a time in our country's history when we as vets were not only not respected or welcomed home, but booed and spit at by some over-enthusiastic anti-war countrymen. I am delighted to finally see our country giving our troops the respect and love they deserve for their service to our still great nation. GO AIR FORCE!

Yeah, I too was involved in this precision drill stuff. Back in the 60's I was with the US Air Marines a wing lootenant. We pushed back the VC with ane awesome display of line dancing and when they were on the run we finished them off with a killer funky disco dance.

Actually guys the gloves have sylicone on them for slip resistance. it makes handling the rifles easier. But the guy below is right. it is a part of the uniform. The noise is simply the guys "beasting" the rifles. That is what you are supposed to do. It adds intensity and helps everyone stay together.

i really dont want to get in a big argument about this but if you do your research you'll notice that the old guard is actually a nickname of the 3rd infantry regiment which is an ARMY unit, so in order to be in the 3rd infantry regiment(nicknamed the old guard) you have to be in the army. so the old guard is actually just the army

@colors1387 Also regarding the Army, Navy and Marines. The Army has their bolts taken out of their receivers, so it would weigh less then the rifles used by the Navy and Cost Guard. The Coast Guard's 03's would most likely weigh the most out of the Army and Navy Drill Team's by a few ounces because the stock they use on their rifles have pistol grips and are called C stocks for 03's. The Marines use M1's with 6 inch bayonets instead of 10 and their stock have the pistol grip sanded off.

A most excellent performance! You must also check out the US Navy Drill Team perform their show in Norway with over a million hits on YOU TUBE It is hard to say which team is the best. No doubt one must also consider the Marine Corp Drill Team..ALL OF THEM are as good as another in any combination of shows they do. It would take the best of them to judge which is the true winner. So lets just give them all the respect certainly deserved! Not to forget the US Army too, THANK YOU!

This, my friends, is a great drill team and honor guard. They do it like all the others: respect, duty, service and oath. Stop fighting. Let's look at what we have and feel blessed. Don't bicker. Most of you probably don't know half the crap you're talking about. This, kids, is THE drill team.

Why dis hard working people? The USMCSDP does not have the exclusive on "big" shows. Each service's Drill Team performs in many places worldwide, including community colleges,po dunk towns and sporting events. I appreciate that we have the opportunity to enjoy there shows and our freedom due to the sacrfices of ALL five of the services and our allies. Semper Fidelis!

@AmericanWardog kudos to you for being honest in your assessment.the USMC has a terrific drill but the USAF Drill is technically far more demanding.that and neither cover or blades are ever removed during a performance.many hours of practice are required for this type of close order drill.thanks.

Sadly, you are mistaken. The "Old Guard" is in fact a U.S. Army unit, The 3rd United States Army Regiment. During military funerals, the deceased member's branch of service is used as pallbearers and can serve in other capacities. Nonetheless, the Old Guard itself is completely U.S. Army. Regards, Retired Chief Warrant Officer (CWO2)

@russianrings again: I'm currently active duty, serving both in Public Health and the Honor Guard. I do Honor Guard one week out of the month. @djackson: I will ALSO note that the Pearl Harbor navy personnel (I'm at Hickam AFB, HI,) do not have mandatory PT in the morning. Only select Army are mandatory in Schoffield. We are mandatory 3 days out of the week for the entire base. Also, we have the hardest physical training standards of all the divisions. Really, I can do this all day, keep it up.

Well I am a die-hard Air Force fan and what you said is your opinion. (So I respect that, I respect Marines as much as any other service.) Even, though, the Air Force MAY have an "I want one too" attitude, you have to admit these guys are doing one hell of a job to get it.

@jtsilavis- Very well said.....Thank you. Its nice to hear from a foreigner that you appreciate the good that the U.S. military does for this world. Most of us live comfortably and without fear because the U.S. military and her allies stand guard and preserve those freedoms. Many more live comfortably and don't realize that they are free because someone else is standing guard and sacrificing for their freedom. Some people just don't get the big picture....You get it, jtsilavis. Thank you!!!

@guysey1 As a US Veteran, I would like to comment on what you have posted here. Drill is interesting and meaningful. The important thing is when it comes to combat, the US is lucky to have a professional and formidable British Military by its side. @djackson again: Public Health (my job) is practically in charge of the basic training program. All divisions of the military have it, and yes, we do have the hardest basic training to date. I'll also note that the reason many people aren't special duty jobs like pararescue and air traffic controller is because 95% fail out of the training program. Because it's really that hard. I'm not playing down any other military divisions, I'm just saying we have some of the highest drop out ratings.

Each country has their own military customs and ceremonial standards. Some may look odd or strange to those of another country, but you still have to admire and respect military discipline, regardless of which country they are from. Much of America's military history comes from the British, FYI.

@colors1387 A few of the team members on NGA were personal friends with some drill team and casket bearer members. I actually had one of them get the drill master at the time to sign my M1 stock. I have a picture of me back in 2007 on Bolling AFB posing with a few members of the Navy Drill Team if you'd like to see it :P It was taken after Constantine (who was my drillmaster at the time) made me perform my solo infront of the Navy DT in preparation for the Nationals competition.
