Hours upon hours. They drill on their way to the mess hall, breakfast, lunch, and dinner! This is between drilling from 0800 to 1200. Then from 1300 to 1600. They may have weekends off, unless they have a exhibition.

the unit that the drill team belongs to is an infantry unit. Same unit that does tomb of the unkown guard duty. It's a ceremonial unit based in washington DC. they pull their soldiers from infantry units across the army.

Zaerambo The Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon has been doing the same exact drill for a long time. The US Army keeps many traditions but still makes changes to the drill every year and basically Taylor’s the drill to every event. They do look great though.

Best quality recorded drill! A lot of the others are outside, audience hooting & hollering like they're at a carnival, some kind of hawker on a mega phone ruining the mood. This is going on my "Great Dance Various Styles/Drills/Past & Present" Great work, soldiers & thanks to a great camera man/woman, silence of the audience, excellent. Could hear every sound.

That rifle toss hand off with the bayonets still attached was really impressive, they don't even wear a sheath. I noticed in the Marine drill they removed and sheathed the bayonets during their toss hand off drills. Both teams keep them attached when the rifles are flying past their teammates faces in non hand off drills.

Who says they're all grunts???? Assume nothing! You don't have to be a grunt (Infantryman) to maintain a high level of discipline!! A personally know a lot of POGS that have just as much, if not more, self discipline as any grunt I've seen!

@@tomrichards3869 I've never been on the drill team, but I assume that everything would stop the individual that dropped their rifle would recover it in a "military manner" (crisp and deliberate movements). Then he would retake his position and they would continue.

Tom Richards They don’t stop. They maintain ceremonial composure and arm movement as if the rifle is still there. There are backup rifles carried by soldiers in the same uniform away from the drill pad that will place a new rifle in the empty of hands of whoever .... their rifle. Usually that isn’t the case though. It’s usually because the bayonet starts to loosen and wiggle too much, at which point the soldier will continue marching but hold the rifle at port and it will then be replaced mid-drill.
