BTUFF went and watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. If you've never seen it, it's a must see. The procedure is done at Arlington Cemetery, in Washington D.C. This procedure happens year round. We got a closeup of the inspection which is one of the most disciplined things you will ever see. At the end you see a Honor Flight ceremony. Make sure to give the video a like if you enjoyed it. The tomb of the unknown soldier is a must see.

Yah they do that during the inspection and when they finish their shift. If the rifle was loaded it would be a serious hazard to be spinning around like that so it’s a flashy way to do a basic safety check before the rifle gets flipped and smacked and stuff. (Yes I know that m14s have a magazine and they don’t have one but a lot of accidental shootings happen because people take the mag out of the gun and don’t realize there is a round in the chamber. The guard charging the rifle would eject the round if there was one in the chamber)

I had the distinct honor of being at the changing of the guard on Thanksgiving weekend in 1976 when I was on liberty from Camp Lejeune North Carolina. I was in my Dress Blues, and was standing at the back of the crowd as I watched the ceremony. When the Sergeant of The Guard was at the front, and spoke to the crowd, he said; "Members of the military who are present, and in uniform, are required to render the proper salutes upon the orders of 'present arms'...." I thought to myself; "I would have done so, no matter what". But when the orders of "Present Arms", and "Order Arms" were given, I did as ordered. And thus became a part of the ceremony. I have never forgotten that, and will carry that honor with me until the day I die. I don't know who the Unknown Soldiers are...but I will never forget them. May they rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

To all those who may laugh about the old men in the background: Once they where well trained, once they fought for their country, once they where in a condition enemies where afraid of. In just a few years all those who are now the strong ones will look the same. YOU will look the same. And you wouldn't want people to laugh at you just because your best days are in the past. So show respect the way you would like to receive respect later.

While I don’t know much about what we used to call ‘Delta Force’ and is now ACE (and has a new name that they’ve been able to keep civilians from finding out so far) I have heard that more soldiers will pass their training and make it into Delta than there are soldiers who pass their training and become one of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Hi, all the movements with the rifles are very fast and accurate. So I wonder why the new guards are putting down their rifles so demonstrative slowly and carefully to their side 1:28 ? Of course they don‘t want to hit the ground too hard in order to not damage the metal, but it seems to me kind of overdone. And there‘s this tiny delay in presenting the rifles at 3:28 , what dose that mean? This can be seen in every footage, so it‘s intended and no mishap. Any ideas why they do that? What‘s the intention?

This is for the people who gave their lives for our nation that was never found or identified. It's one tomb to honor all those people. It's also a display of how much our nation respects those who died although we may never know who they was. It's very important as a foundation of respect between the military and the citizens. It shows a huge amount of gratitude to keep this going. It's the least humanity could ask for, everyone should be proud our country has the dignity to give proper burial for the people who died in the dirt and was lost without a body to bring home.

It is a custom made, highly engraved Sig Saur M17 21 round 9mm. There are a lot of significant features of this weapon. There were only four made specifically for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

@@francislong5114 My wife calls me an insufferable, know-it-all horse's axx. And she is right. I am a gun nut. And all gun nuts are insufferable, know-it-all horse's axxes. That is why I know what gun it is.

I remember when H. Johnson cried because the MDW CSM wouldn't let her quit. She had a mouth like that of a drunken sailor - and the entire 3d US In gasped in Conmy Hall when she was given the LoM when she left. Then there was the Black Female who got caught on the security camera for throwing snowballs at the Sentinel walking the mat. Delane kept that VHS tape and blackmailed his commander to get out on a "chance of a lifetime". Then you had pieces of s like Brad McVeigh, Reid, Hardney, Berroga, Childress, Hardney, Harris, and Kline - ever light a cigarette off Kennedy's "Eternal Flame" How about someone taking a dump on McVeigh's desk when he went to CCG? Never in my 3 decades in the Army did I ever meet worse soldiers than the 3d IN had. They simply cheated, stole, sold and used drugs, and lied - that's when I realized it's not the organization, it's the individual that make things suck....
