Naoko Takeuchi had some fun pairing off the senshi with each other in a lot of her art (most strikingly Mars and Venus, as a reference to mythology) but even that never went anywhere really, even in the manga. It is quite sad. Mercury had Ryo Urawa in season 1 who never appeared again, and Minako had an ex boyfriend named Alan. But yeah, it felt quite unfair. The Shitennouh are also sort of options but again, Naoko kind of dropped that too lol

But she also literally drew the senshi killing them, so any romance with the shitennouh seems very much a past thing (before their corruption under Metalia). Since the 90s anime version’s target demographic was a lot younger than the readers of the manga there was a lot they had to tone down. Also the producers and “most” of the directors were male so Naomi Takeuchi the manga creator complained that the anime perspective was done from a “male gaze” and it was less shoujo then her manga
