I feel Trinity is soooo overlooked. She could really be the one that comes out and surprises us all. I don't think anyone is a lock for World's yet other than Reagan as long as she doesn't kill herself in her floor routine. Riley shows really great promise, but a bit wobbly and inexperienced and pressure still kind of gets to her. I honestly think it's between her and Jordan (who clearly showed she can handle the pressure, mess up, and still come out on top). I like Riley's style better (more graceful and fluid). It would seem they are really considering Jade (that girl is a sure medal winner in both of her events if she can stick her landing on vault - which she got closer to this time). If Morgan had been consistent - she would have been in. I think that the other three places are really up to how they do at camp.

I'm sorry, but If Ashton doesn't start training as an AA she won't make the team. This new crop of girls are much better on bars so they may not even need a specialist. One of the reasons I believe Madison always had the edge over her was the fact that she was in the top 5 AA during the last P&G championships. She even beat Gabby on night 1. There's no room for specialist this quad. These girls need to up their game and be great on all events.
@harrietaliceburke7 жыл бұрын
Young Contrarian there's even more room for specialists this quad than ever before. The Olympic format has completely changed making spots specifically for specialists, for those who may not contribute in the team. Check out the format changes online, very interesting

Well, she really needs to improve her beam difficulty. If she had a higher beam difficulty than Madison last year, I think she would have made the Olympic team because I always liked her bars better. She's going to get lost in the crop of juniors becoming seniors next year if she doesn't up her difficulty on both events.

it's been so dope to see the expansion of diversity in womens gymnastics over the past few years !!! hope it continues
@mjamitche52457 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is nice to see the amount of diversity and I hope it continues. Gymnastics is such an expensive private club sport requiring at least one very dedicated parent plus an income earner. It's not like basketball or something where you can just stay after school at some neighborhood public school and get picked up later. So, gymnastics was relegated to the upper class as was golf and tennis, traditionally. However, I do want to point out that Dominique Dawes was an Olympian in 1992, 1996 and 2000 as was Amy Chow for 2 of those olympics. Dominique was rarely scored as well domestically as she was internationally in the old scoring system (I always felt the US was quite unfair in that regard), but I do believe the amount of diversity today and the difficulty plus execution scoring system has made things quite fair.

Taking time off competition allows the gymnasts to be people for a while, which is super important during careers that intense that can last eight years at the senior level. It also helps prevent them from getting injured and having to recover from that on top of staying in shape and learning new moves. Also, dropping out of college has nothing to do with a person's worth or intellect.

if youre referring to scores, code of points changed so everyones scores dropped by at least half a point. So even last years seniors, like simone, aly, and laurie would be scoring in the 14s and low 15s. Also the year after the olympics usually doesnt have big difficulty yet, they have 3 years to build up the difficulty and dont wanna risk going to fast or they might injure themselves.

Somehow, I like the girls who look like they are more than 'a gymnast.' Jordans excitement after her beam and her happiness when she realized she became second. Frazier, who is so mature. Love Morgan, who somehow just gives me the idea she is great as a person. Trinity Thomas to me looks humble, ready to work hard. Jade Carey looks a bit overwhelmed, like she never expected to be there and still feels like she is in the wrong spot, but than delivers some great gymnastics. Paula Olsen I like a lot as well. Somehow, Abi, Riley, Ragan and some more seem to be in a 'oh I am good-bubble.' Like they do not even realize there is a world outside gymnastics, just interacting with their coaches. Maybe that is just an outsiders look on things, but I sometimes wonder if they leave enough space for those young women to become a person as well...

Jordan Chiles is super cool. She's getting to go to a really good school now (she used to be homeschooled). She posted a video on twitter of her doing a handstand and walking on her hands across the cafeteria at school. Some of her friends asked her to do it because they know she's a gymnast (people at school love to see you do some gymnastics). She's also very involved in her church charity work. I think she struggled the first day because she was sick with a fever, but I was glad to see her come out on top. I totally get what you're saying about personalities which is why I think it was easy to love Simone and Gabby the years they won the Olympics. I'm excited to see what's to come from Trinity, Jade and Morgan as well. Honestly, personalities aside, I just like the gymnastics of these 4 better than the others you mentioned.

After asked their opinions on Aly Raisman's statement to USAG it basically boiled down to "Well I had a great career so... not my problem?" So disappointing to hear that from them. If you love the sport, don't shrug off atrocities that happen within it.

Loved Sydney Johnson Scharpf's floor choreo - so dramatic and so expressive! It's going to be interesting to see who makes the world team! I think it will be Smith, McCusker and Carey and then basically everyone could be on it. Chiles, Thomas, Frazier, Hurd.

I love that Gabby brought out women of Color! It's so good to see that .
@sashababy60607 жыл бұрын
Why does everything have to be about race? There have always been "gymnasts of color" or whatever stupid expression you feel the need to use. There are no women of color, there are just women. We are all some color. Stop polarizing.
@tawhneebaby7 жыл бұрын
Sasha Baby gymnastics has always been mostly white whether you believe it or not. When people see themselves projected at the highest levels, they are motivated to try it for themselves. I get that you dont "get it" but just imagine a gymnastics where there are no or very few (i.e. 1) white people for you to see. Im pretty sure having someone that looks like you would be motivating.

I feel kind of bad for Simone. She doesn't seem super passionate about attempting a comeback. I'm scared she's going to do it just because of all of the pressure being put on her to do so. If you think about it, there's no reason why she has to come back. She doesn't need redemption or anything-she already accomplished everything in the sport. I feel bad for high profile athletes in general. It's like ppl see them as "that gymnast" or whatever and it almost becomes the athletes identity. Like the athlete is scared to quit the sport because she thinks "well im a gymnast so if I'm no longer a gymnast than im nothing to these ppl" . I really hope she makes her decision based on her own head and heart and not based off of what everyone else wants. Her true fans will love her whether she's competing anymore or not
@gymnastgirl79447 жыл бұрын
CrownJules oh for sure I completely agree. I think the same for the other girls. The reason Aly/Laurie/Gabby haven't said anything abt comebacks yet is because they aren't sure they want to but don't want to announce they're shutting the door just yet so they won't lose the endorsements. I strongly believe Simone can make it back if she honestly wants to. The coaching for her is what I'm wondering about. It's stupid to move to Florida to train with Aimee when your parents own a gym right near your house but then again Aimee was the one who got her to Rio and knows how she works. I'm not sure if she'd get the same results with another coach, as good as she is. And Alys coach moved to do idk what her plan would be if she makes a comeback but I somehow don't rly think she will.
@mocneeuq7 жыл бұрын
+Gymnast Girl it is kinda obvious, Simone has a natural talent for gymnastics. Aimee did so well for her but I think any coach that could have a rapport with Simone, would do well for Simone too. Simone, Aly, Laurie and Gabby are all pros. You can't fault them for not wanting to easily say they will retire. I feel like some of you are condemning because they get these money from endorsements.
@gymnastgirl79447 жыл бұрын
Gracie C. No one is condemning them it's perfectly understandable. It's just a fact that ppl are discussing that's all :)

@@mocneeuq no one anywhere is condemning anyone. I can't even comprehend how a comment expressing sadness for over pressured athletes came across as a condemnation to you. Seems like way too many people in these gymnastics comment sections are forever nit picking and being argumentative.... though i guess that's par for the course in a fandom full of little girls. Still though. Yikes.

I love gymnastics, but sometimes I feel like the whole thing is somewhat scripted. The judges and commentators have their list of athletes that they want to push regardless of all else. If one of the chosen does badly they are either given a better score or an excuse is made. At the same time great performances by those who are not on the chosen list underscored and down play. I wish the system was just a little more fair. Good is good, okay is okay, bad is bad. But I guess the politic of it all makes this impossible.

Jade Carey is just remarkable .. Power and then some . Her floor was insane night two. She competes something like it in worlds with clean landings like that she will have a medal on floor . If she can consistently land her vaults specifically the Amanar cleanly she could be vault champion . Nobody has her level of difficulty right now of the USA girls . Just saying brining her to worlds would be an Assest for the USA team Even if this worlds it is just individual events . She is too good not to go!!
@brianpatterson18277 жыл бұрын
What's even more remarkable is that she just recently learned these skills. Just at the end of last year she was only a Level 10 Gymnast! Just outstanding.

Michaela Spiro I love the fact that she was discovered by USA gymnastics at last year's JO nationals and was invited to a national training camp and has been w/ the elite seniors ever since! I'm seriously routing for her to make the world team because she has major potential to medal (and/or WIN) medals on vault and floor.
@michaelaspiro81607 жыл бұрын
@ Brian , I know I think that's why out of all the girls I have seen of this championship why I like her the most is due to the simple fact she is pure natural talent . I love how her gymnastics skills speak for themselves . The fact she is even attempting an Amanar one of the hardest vaults in the women's field is incredible especially when you realize how new that skill is for her . i am excited to see how she will do at a international event because she has all the pieces to be really great in the sport even if just as a specialist on floor or vault .

I was a little bit worried after the classic but I have to admit team USA looked pretty darn good. There were mistakes here and there but we have to remember it's a new quad. I LOVE Morgan Hurd and am most excited for her but all the girls looked good. However, I am so tired of the wolf turn!!! I was so happy to see Morgan and Trinity do "normal" full turns on the beam!
