Maggie Haney, the MG Elite coach, should learn from Chow and Gabby Douglas. These coaches want to make ridiculous amounts of money off these gymnasts who go pro, and it has backfired. Meanwhile, they watched their parents go bankrupt all the years they were training and God forbid the gymnast wants to bail their parents out of the hole. They don't make that much money off of endorsements anyway. They're not basketball players. They're only marketable during the actual Olympics. These coaches would do far better to just go into business with the gymnast and use their fame to market the gym to younger athletes by staying in the limelight as the coach of their Olympic gold medal winner, rather than draining the gymnast dry and driving her away. And where did it get Chow? His top 3 remaining gymnasts were riddled with injuries and he didn't even make it to the Olympics. He should have stuck with Gabby for a lower price. Think of what it would have brought him in revenue from new parents wanting a current Olympic gymnastics coach-not one from 2012.

So excited for the future of USA woman gymnastics . So much amazing talent and potential in this new crop of girls ! Our future looks bright in Gymnastics . You can see even in the girls just coming back from injury like Morgan , Riley how good the talent in the USA is . Jade Carey is just unreal ... The fact her difficulty on floor is already up their with the likes of Simone and Aly is remarkable . I could see her medaling at worlds on floor especially if she can clean up her landings . Her First vault was gorgeous world class . She just has to put the Amanar to her feet and she will be such a threat in the years to come for the USA at worlds and the Olympics . She is that good ! Ragan just had an off day but is amazing , it's awesome to see her really coming into her own as a gymnast ... it was wonderful to see Riley have a good first day of competition she is beautiful to watch, her lines are gorgeous . As was Morgan Hurd her beam was beautiful, her lines are also lovely . Can't wait to see this new crop competing for medals at the worlds and future Olympic Games !

I don't mind them. When there are athletes who are all good, having some difficult moves that cause some to tumble helps sort the wheat from the chaff. Then, when you see someone actually do it well, making it look effortless and graceful as well as strong and deliberate, well then you know you're watching a star.

Tim, Dina Kochetkova '96 - she had two floor routines. She used one for team final and all around and a different one for event final.
@i.am.heather4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t show anywhere that she had two different prepared floor exercises, and between an optional piece along with the compulsory exercise (which is what you’re probably getting confused with), that would be A LOT to remember. And honestly, I don’t even know if that’s allowed. If you qualify with one routine, you have to compete that routine.

Maybe give them some head start extra credit in some classes.... guarantee they'll be in the starting line up at the first meet of the year in at least 2 events... who knows what kind of carrots they might dangle in front of those girls once they've pledged to a specific school?!

They keep fussing over the US not being strong on UB and yet for vaulting we have one athlete doing two vaults. I know for a team final we don't need that but this year is individual events and right now only Jade Carey does two vaults. Simone and McKayla S. were the only ones last quad. Thank God the sound is fixed. I'm excited to see the juniors too. Big battle between Malabuyo and O'Keefe.
@mjamitche52457 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I can see why few girls would be doing an Amanar this year, but I have been surprised by the number of Yurchenko fulls. That's just ridiculous. It's like people aren't strategizing making a World's team. It's going to be much harder next year with Simone coming back and promising juniors making the jump to seniors next year. I would have taken a gamble and thrown my hardest vault knowing this year may be my last to get an international assignment, and on such a big stage.
@crownjules7 жыл бұрын
mjamitche5 why throw skills that aren't necessary at this point in time? Worlds isn't until October, no need to peak too soon. Plus, if the endgame is to make it to the Olympics at the end of the quad then it would be pretty helpful not to end up broken (see Olympic hopefuls such as Rebecca Bross, Katelyn Ohashi
@soapygirl837 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's very rare for gymnasts to train two vaults because it's a lot of pounding on the body and often training an amanar is hard enough! I don't think Marta always encouraged it either. t's funny because back in 2004 we were strong on UB and weak on vault, which is why Mohini and Annia made the team. Then the pendulum swung the other way and we had a team full of strong vaulters in 2008-2016. For a while the open code made vault one of the highest scoring events and bars one of the lower ones. I think Valeri's had a lot of influence in helping the current cohort of athletes be stronger on bars and develop better foot/leg form.
@mjamitche52457 жыл бұрын
You act like everyone has a chance to peak and make the Olympics. There are only 4 spots. The US team is too deep for some of these fringe girls to bide their time. Let's face it. Most of the girls we've seen this weekend as seniors, we won't hardly notice next year with the juniors (who are phenomenal now) taking the new senior spotlight. A couple of the girls throwing Yurchenko fulls could have placed in the top 3 with a double and possibly made the World's team. Most of them won't have a chance next year, sorry to say.

Hope the olympic team will be similar to the last one, they rocked! I also think ragan smith could be an olympian for 2020. She's got so much potential, but they' re all tremendously good. Go team USA! I' m sorry for Laurie, she doesn't seem in shape

Morgan Hurd looked so graceful😍I know she had two big mistakes but was still incredible. I love that move in the middle when she held her back leg and brought it over her head like that when she was down on the floor and my favorite part was that pose when she finished!

What floor music does Morgan Hurd perform to? Sounds very familiar

All Al Trautwig is good for: Green means good, you're good to go. Yellow, uh oh, you might be in trouble. And Red, You're off the rails. That is his commentary.

Noticing a different take off on the tumbling runs, like a turn and one foot run take off. Is this a code of points change or just whats in style these days?

They showed nearly every routine of Leah Clapper's on the webcast at the expense of competitors who finished 14 spots ahead of her. You should go watch the webcast.
