i never got military training and i'm surprised on the amount of thought that has been put into analyzing to the smallest detail every single aspect. Not only that, but also to be able to transmit that knowledge to a broad audience. Kudos as well to the support trainer, it shows it's not the first time he's doing that.

Excellent presentation but need to improve on the camera work. Camera focused on the instructor instead of what he was pointing out on the screen. Missed a lot of what he was demonstrating through the screen.

In the ADF we were basically taught when shooting prone to have the rifle basically on target and then approach it from 45 degrees and take your position from there My favourite moment during basic was when we did our first shoot (5 rounds to make sure you’re not a total idiot). They styer could change from right to left handed but only the armoury was allowed to do that so all right handed people took their issued rifle but left handed people were waiting on the armoury to change theirs so they shared one prepared by the instructors A mate of mine who was left handed did the shoot first, we were specifically told to only perform the actions ordered when touching the weapons. We were to fire 5 times on command The “go on” command was issued and my mates rifle goes “brrrrrt!” An instructor comes over screaming “why did you do that? the weapon should be in semi!!!” My mate goes “this is a left handed rifle I was told not to touch until i was going to fire, I didn’t set it up”, the instructor was like “ahhh yea I did that, I should have double checked, my bad you passed” First thing my mate says when he comes back to the shed was “well full auto works” hahaha I’ll never forget that

Great stuff. First firefight in 83 (11B) last in 2008 (civvie). About 10 tours between the two and absolutely not boasting. POINT IS, I almost never shot from the prone supported in combat. I respect this and the AMU, but it needs to become more Battle Focused Punching paper targets and being comfortable before you pull the trigger is NOT reality. Competitions are not the mission. Combat is the mission

Do you use the sling to add stability if the rifle is equipped with a sling?

No. With the M4/M16, sling tension can shift the point of impact. One can install a free float handguard in order to abate this, but the army has not yet seen fit to do so.

What do you do if your natural point of aim is too high/low? Can’t simply rotate body left/right when that happens

If its too low or high, you adjust your stance. Whole point of this information is teaching you how to adjust natural point of aim. Up and down isnt a factor because that is as simple as leaning back or forwards. Minimal strain added and doesnt change your body dynamics, steering the gun with your arms rather than your body adds unnecessary strain while also running the risk of ruining your cheek weld. drive the gun with your hips, dont steer it with your hands

very good. the only part I find odd is the "closing the eyes to relax and then open to see if you are on target"...just does not seem applicable to combat, maybe good for target practice or sniper duty though.

Ryan the BMXer This is taught during training to help the shooter develop muscle memory. You are correct that this is not an intended drill for combat but rather a skill developed from it to allow natural firing position in combat/sport.

I hope when you get into your first firefight that you shout fast and get to ground or cover asap and I mean asap my back up on my first engagement stayed in open we were in town Always Always put something in between you and whatever is out there. I Repeat never stay in a open area at all at all he was from 82nd and he got hit directly in chest by rpg. I never ever seen anything like that ever and it changed my Life&Attitude. safe and controlled environment with a firearm rendered clear. Trigger finger placement is also key to shooting fundamentals. When i was in, the number of people I saw who were fucking up their trigger pulls until my Cadre showed them how to do it properly was nuts. The military genuinely trains you as if you were mentally handicapped.
