Noting very important on my channel but thank you !

Appreciate the video but eeally can't tell which lights are on so can't see the effectiveness of the tester -- the camera exposure needs to be adjusted way down.

You are right, but at least you can see some LED's. But this wasn't about what exact LED's lights up or not, just a quick review of this inexpensive USB cable tester. I like it enough to make a quick video - the overhead light is one of my main lights in this hobby room, that I can't turn off for obvious reasons. If you go to the Amazon place: www.amazon.com/Treedix-Cable-Checker-Charging-Type-C/dp/B0BW8ZC7YD/ref=sr_1_1_pp?crid=3TQEXZB1VTMBH&keywords=usb+cable+tester&qid=1691871210&sprefix=usb+cable+tester%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-1 you can see all the lights it has and even more detail pictures of the back side. I have several USB testers, but this is much faster to test what your USB cable has or doesn't have. It doesn't test the speed of the cable, for that you need something like this: www.amazon.com/Voltage-Multimeter-Detection-Capacity-Measurement/dp/B0BS2ZS813/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3TQEXZB1VTMBH&keywords=usb%2Bcable%2Btester&qid=1691871402&sprefix=usb%2Bcable%2Btester%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-4&th=1

Thanks fo the detailed reply@@tonysfun. I'm trying to figure out if it shows conductivity all the pinouts or just selective ones. It looked as if many more lights were lit on one side than the other on the cables you were testing, but I couldn't tell if that was just me not being able to tell which lights were lit.

It does show all the connections and they are labeled - see the pictures on the amazon.com as I mentioned before. It is in my humble opinion a very comprehensive USB tester. And the price of $15 is very reasonable. You can't connect it to the computer, it is just a stand alone tester.@@smithcon

I bought this tester and find it to be very informative. My only question is hooking up Vin if I don't have a good CR2032. I ordered the JST PH2.0 connector. The connector fits perfectly but it looks like the polarity on the board is reversed from the wired connector. Just wondering if anyone has done this?
@pop-popmoose535916 күн бұрын
I used an ohm meter to verify the pin connections to the test points marked + and -. I hooked up 3v to the connector and verified 3v at the test points, but the tester would not work when using Vin.

I do not know, I never do that kind of powering up this tester. There is a reason why it came with a button battery. I buy these batteries in bulk, since I use them in other testers and equipments. It is much less expensive to buy them from Amazon, than locally, where they can charge as much as $7.xx for one button battery!

Hi, can you write down resistors value on the board? They all must have the same value.
@tonysfun10 ай бұрын
I was looking for the values of the resistors, but my microscope with my eyesight.... I couldn't read the values. I measured several of them and the value is 1Kohm. Hope that this helps.

Your 100 watts cable can charge 100 watts, but it doesn't support SuperSpeed USB3.1.

How did you find out? I like to hear the details. Thank you!
@fu1r4 Жыл бұрын
@@tonysfun I'm not an expert, but TX, RX 1 and 2 are not lit up. Those are for the SuperSpeed.
@tonysfun Жыл бұрын
@@fu1r4 Some cables, and I have seen that on some, don't have that connection so it isn't the best cable. My good cables have these light up. Try some other cables and see which one is the best cable.

@@tonysfunnah too expensive 4 my needs.. got the treedix one for data pins, also have type-c volt/ampere meter for the charging test. covers most of my use cases. anyway thanks for the heads up

You didn't explain what the lights mean Neither do any of the manuals or docs by the manufacturer on this thing, Just saying there's lots of lights on like you did means nothing. Pretty meaningless device but pretty lights go on.
@tonysfun6 күн бұрын
The quick video wasn't a detail video, sorry. But you can lookup on the Internet what all the lights represent. Most of them are for the negotiation, between the source and destination, od the speed and voltage and Watts... Since many manufactures sometimes wire stuff as they feel is right, some standards aren't followed! It is complicated little more than just USB2, that was a simple serial connection!
