Anthony Tortoriello The snowball doesn't suck, its still has very good quality, its worse than the other too but thats because its much cheaper. As for the argument between the AT2020 and they Yeti, I can't really hear too much difference, the AT2020 might be slightly better but even still the Yeti has many more features so I'd probably say that those 2 come down to preference. No need to call people deaf, its just personal preference.

The AT2020 sounded better to you because it was louder. This allowed you to pick up on the details better than the other two, and your brain found the sound easier to evaluate because it was louder. Physiologically speaking, when things are louder they sound better to us (to a certain limit, of course).

I personally always loved the turtle beach PX21's mic because it was noise cancelling. Best mic I ever used, even the headset was great. Only problem was it was built like shit, broke on me 6 times before I gave up on it.

It's alright but for best results, have a mic stand and the pop filter. Should be in the suggestions somewhere on amazon if you buy it from there. Also, put it out in an open space, don't place it near walls or on a desk. The vibrations from your voice will bounce off said wall/desk creating a reverb and making you sound like you're underwater. Just go listen to my Resistance 2 review for an example.

Yeah I guess, I've never actually used a Yeti so I can't what your results would be but I can say that the yeti definitely sounded better/clearer on this video coming through my speakers and I use a surround sound setup along with an audio card designed for audio editing.

I own a Yeti and just bought an AT2020. If you live in an even low noise or open area the Yeti picks up everything. It picks up my family when they are across the house. If you want no background noise for ,say, a KZbin commentary go with the AT2020. If you are into music go with the Blue Yeti.

+LBCvalenz562 He is right you can't compare a condenser microphone which is made for voice overs only to a blue yeti which is a all arounder professional mic. Blue Yeti does have the better quality overall and anyone with patience and knows how to google and work a pc can easily adjust the sound levels... Even just right clicking your speakers (bottom right of desktop) and click recording devices and right clicking the yeti and changing it's level down from a 100 to about 10-20 fixes most of the back round noise pick up if not all of it... That is without using any software which is good if you are a streamer...

To be completely honest, I feet like the yeti and snowball sound quality are pretty similar. People might be thinking that the snowball sounds horrible because it's a bit quieter. The snowball is meant to be closer to your face, they just give you a crappy stand. I believe that the AT2020 has the best sound overall. I would go with the AT2020 but would be getting a better stand. The Yeti is a complete package, but I wouldn't mind spending a bit extra to get a full package with the AT2020 with its quality.

The at2020 as all it's features go into the one polar pattern so it has been improved in my opinion it is a very good mic, if you were to get one and wanted to background noise to make it even better I would suggest investing in a pop filter and a shock mount not so much for background noise but they will improve it

Here at our recording studio we use both microphones. Through extensive tests we have found that there is no difference in sound quality. The only differences are the features. AT2020 -smaller/lighter -fits more shock mounts and boom arms than the Yeti Blue Yeti -gain control on mic -can choose from 4 sound patterns -can plug headphones in to hear the mic Both microphones are great and we recommend both!

I don't really think Blue and AT are really aiming for the same thing. The AT2020 is in itself a studio microphone, but they adapted it to USB for relative ease of use (which was stupid in my opinion). Also note that the AT2020 has an entirely metal construction. Meanwhile the Blue mics are oriented towards casual users and are made of cheap plastic.

Keep in mind if you go with the yeti, it weighs about 5lbs. Most if not all boom arm mounts do not hold it. Also it is only compatible with Blue's gigantic dumb shock mount

SPARTAN26MiLLiX Can you help me make a choice? I am stuck between the blue yeti or an audio technica atr2100 microphone. Both mics are sound good from my own observation, the difference being the way sound is delivered with both mics. The Yeti sounds broad to me, in that it includes many sounds, and picks up from a large radius in any given mode it is in. The sound is much more general,in that it sounds as if you were having a conversation with a person in a reasonable distance away from you. I thought this was good for my idea to make commentary with groups of people, similar to a podcast. However, the ATR2100 is about $40 cheaper, but sound isolates and is best used when the mic is right up the users mouth. It produces a much more personal sound,as it captures the users sound almost exclusively, with little background noises IF they are loud enough. I thought that this would be good for making the commentary when I'm alone, but I suspect the Yeti might as well fill this role as well.

I had an audio technica like the one in this video they are a fucking dissapointment the little leg stand broke the 2nd day the usb 2.0 input on the Mic has little prongs in it that are really weak and became loose and fell of within a week not a very good Mic that blue yeti though gets a ten all around for price,quality, ease of use, and durability very good mic I've had it about a month now I recorded a whole MIXTAPE and it still works like new BLUE YETI Hands down worth every penny

I have a Snowball, and my friend has a Yeti Pro. Both sound great for singing. You just have to make sure that you have a good acoustics set-up, and some digital compression or low passes.

@Rossplosion Yeah, I think the snowball definitely falls short compared to the other two mics. The main difference I notice between the Yeti & the AT2020 is that the AT mic sounds a fair bit brighter (both for voice & guitar.. most noticeable with the guitar). This makes sense given the mfg's listed frequency response curves (AT2020's on the amazon page (USB version), and the Yeti's can be found in the manual, available on the mfg site). Yeti is nice for it's flexibility though.

I agree, however the point I was trying to make was; Opinions matter little in the debate over which microphone sounds best (even on a budget) ...because everyone is going to hear it differently because of the wide range of coloration & response from the plethora of speaker and headphone brands out there. This question can only be settled in a controlled test which is pointless because of all the above reasons. So in the end perhaps it is a personal choice, where the only common gremlin is noise

@AmbrillaMusic Generally for rapping / anything vocal, you're gonna wanna be recording through the "Stereo" type of recording. The Yeti is the only mic out of these 3, whom holds the option for Stereo recording.
