Awesome USB PM kit!! Always a fan and returning customer of your products (hand held Diode light). I want to make this kit work for my 4th gen. Most likely I can. Keep it up...hopefully some products dedicated for the 4th gen.

@@deathdealerzulu hmmm I’m not sure if that would work! You can still use the power supply without my kit if you’re mounting it to a flat surface. You’ll just have to deal with using those self tapping screws to install it (I hate those!)

Any reason why you didn't decide to make it flush mount?
@SnowboundCustoms
@SnowboundCustoms 4 ай бұрын
@@GenericUsaCitizen yes! There are some other designs of power sources such as the flush mount round ones with a long tube shape coming out the back, but those cause clearance issues on the inside. The end of the tube and the wires come into contact with the cupholder and also the storage area within the console so it can’t protrude too far in. Even if it does fit, the wires get all kinked trying to make a 90° bend. This rectangular shaped power source mounts on top and eliminates those issues

Hey I'm having some trouble with my install. I have everything wired up like you did and I'm not getting any power. Used a fuse tap and all the other accessories work like my radio and front chargers, but this new charger is only thing not working. I re-did all connections and still no luck...Any thoughts? Great video btw!
@SnowboundCustoms
@SnowboundCustoms 20 күн бұрын
@@4runner4life7 do you have a multimeter by any chance? That would be the best way to diagnose your issues. You can use it to check if the wires actually have power. Also make sure that it is properly grounded!
@4runner4life7
@4runner4life7 20 күн бұрын
@@SnowboundCustoms I do have one but i'm not familiar with using it, so i'll do some research. I re-did the ground connection too, no luck. This is my first time wiring anything and it took a few hours...very frustrating lol. I will try troubleshooting with the multimeter and go from there. Thanks for the quick response!

Wait you have rear ac controls? Is that from a different gen 4Runner? Did you have to run air hoses from the front?
@SnowboundCustoms
@SnowboundCustoms Ай бұрын
@@UnityInWorship some models will have that depending on year or trim. Mine is an 01 SR5. I believe the rear air control only gives out heat and not AC unfortunately! But this mod will work regardless of if you have the air control

So the adapter is sold separately and not together with the 12v usb unit ?
@SnowboundCustoms
@SnowboundCustoms 3 ай бұрын
The only parts I sell is the parts I designed and manufacture myself. The parts I sell includes the front powdercoated plate, the rear mounting plate, two Allen keys, mounting hardware for the plates and also upgraded mounting hardware for the usb unit. That’s all included in the kit I sell. The usb unit I used for this is available on Amazon and linked in the description!

Very interesting, but I don't need it. I just use long charging cables running from a cigarette lighter adapter along the floorboard between the passenger seat and the center console, and they reach slightly past the back seats in total length.

Think the backing plate kit is way to expensive $40 that's crazy for such a little product that probably cost most $5 to make. I'll make my own back plate with aluminum cheaper. Very good video will be doing the rest tho
@SnowboundCustoms
@SnowboundCustoms Ай бұрын
@@limitzone4074 you’d be right if it were just a single raw piece of aluminum, but I have to pay for laser cutting machines, machines to install PEM nuts on both of the aluminum pieces, time to powdercoat them, supplying hardware and also I include the Allen keys in the kits. I’m also just a single person making these in small quantities and don’t have the supply chain efficiency’s that a larger company would have. If you appreciate the content and ideas I put out here, and you want to support small businesses then maybe you would reconsider it 😎 but if not still, that’s fully understandable and maybe you’ll consider buying something else I make in the future!
