Data shows Toyotas are nowhere near reliable. They do spend billions making you believe they are reliable

Well to be fair unlike most domestics Toyota doesn’t change anything they keep the same powertrains and transmissions forever look at the new Toyota turbo charged engines now being mass produced they are riddled with problems hopefully Toyota fix the issues sooner then ford it took ford a smaller company 7 years to fix and retool the entire engine assembly manufacturing process along with better quality parts suppliers completely Small turbo engines with relatively small oil capacity’s pushing 4-5 thousand pound vehicle are really acceptable to wear with prolonged maintenance regardless of car manufacturer

A majority of the turn of the century jdms are bullet proof. My ek civic coupe had 375k before I got a new engine and she still had life left. I changed my oil every 4k and did my timing every 90k. Compression was like a B+ as well :)

Ive had 3 early 2000s 4runners in my life and all died and had some oil leaking via head valve i think. But great trucks just used the crap out of them hauling 3-20k lbs all the time. one was over 300k and others were mid high 200s. More of a tacoma guy personally, and prefer the 4cyl engines over the v6. But both are great overall.

Oil change every 3000-4000 miles? Lol at that point just hook it up to an IV bag with oil I know you Americans love to change oil at some short intervals but this is just ridiculous

I wasn't sold on Toyota until after driving an '07 Yaris for a delivery vehicle. I drove that car like it was stolen. That car made it to 350,000 it probably only needed new fuel injectors and an O² sensor. That was on cheap regular oil. I can only imagine if synthetic was used. I've worked on car's where I have been the one doing the maintenance. Oil changes pay off. If you're using conventional oil Kendall or Castrol is king. For synthetic I'm sold on Super tech from Wally world. If I was able to post a pic I would.
