Yeah the defense didn’t lose the game, the Irish defense destroyed their offense. Four turnovers (picked the heisman trophy winner 3 times) and a fumble return for a touchdown plus a kickoff return for a touchdown. Notre Dame was much faster than USC, they played slow and haven’t seen a defense like the Irish

Can’t not mention Marcus Freeman giving USC 3 points prior to the half. The risk versus reward of that timeout made no sense. Haven’t watched a play back, but I was watching the clock and it seemed the clock hit zero prior to USC’s snap. Even if with the snap was legit, it seemed they would have ran out of time spiking the ball. The options were possibly giving up a 5 yard penalty VS letting the clock run out and going to half. Shocked I haven’t seen this brought up in here. Huge blunder by Freeman I thought.

I mean maybe usc chucks a deep ball and gets a pi and gets 15, but it's not a spot foul so who cares. Freeman is inexperienced, but his team has stood toe to toe with every big program they have played under him, he just has to learn how to avoid the trap games and he will be good. Last night was so fun to watch this defense play to its capabilities. It sucks they lost to Louisville but at the same time they played 4 straight undefeated top 25 teams, at night. Had a tough game with Duke and looked past Louisville, it happens a lot in college football. Just win these last 4 and get a big 6 rematch with Ohio State, or get a match up with Michigan. Maybe LSU. Who knows, a 10-2 season would be great for Freeman.

Yet I believe if Freeman is guilty of something it’s being an overprotective father to his kids that were being dopes and acting out of line. That’s why he called that time out, to protect his kids. He was surely trying to teach and correct his players for not being aware of time and down (or whatever they were thinking running up the field). That’s completely understandable. I’d be yelling at them too to get back onsides and line up too. But it was such a mistake to call timeout. I watched the replay in another video and the time had clearly run out if you watch it in real time. There were zeros on the game clock before USC snapped the ball. It was half time. They could have taken it to review and confirmed it. No one’s perfect. Freeman could have yelled at his players and also been aware of the clock and situation. Fortunately for him, the Irish were able to win. I just found it curious that I hadn’t seen anyone mention that decision. It surely would have been magnified had the game ended differently.

Pretty safe to say two things after today’s games: 1. Penix Jr. should be cemented at the top of Heisman rankings until proven otherwise. I cheer for Oregon but the guy was balling out, he’s definitely going to the NFL someday. 2. After today if Williams is still at the top or even a Heisman contender that’ll strictly be because the media says he should be. OU should have won that game. Poorly advised 4th down attempts (3) kept WA in the game. Washington's offense is for real but I have questions about their defense. So yes I think you're right even if WA wins at USC.

Respect to Louisville, they outplayed Notre Dame, but they just got blown out by Pitt and all that hype got flushed with that loss. Notre Dame just played a stretch of 4 undefeated top 25 opponents, they overlooked Louisville for USC, happens alot in college football. Marcus Freeman is showing he can be an elite head coach for Notre Dame. He just needs these experiences to get there. That Louisville loss hurts a lot less today because I know Notre Dame would have lost 1 of these 2 games either way, and I'll take beating USC every single time 😂

This was a total offensive implosion for USC. 💯 Their defense played well and only gave up 251 yards but it was their offense that let them down , who would have thought ? 💯 This was a glorious victory , but I have a bad feeling about our upcoming match up with Pitt , they just blew out the Louisville team that blew us out. 😨 Scary ! Notre Dame took advantage of short fields from the turnovers. The median scoring drive in the first half for Notre Dame was 27 yards. Notre Dame only ran 49 plays vs 74 plays ran by USC. It’s hard to rack up yards on offense when you don’t have to drive the length of the field 😉

That's the median SCORING drive, what about the drives that didn't lead to a score? The offense wasn't bad, they just weren't the reason at all that the team win. It was great defense and special teams giving them great field position, or just scoring themselves. If you take out the kickers, def and st scores, the team scores 24, of those 24, 18 at least were the result of a short yardage drive after a defensive turnover or great return.

@@snerdterguson yup, Notre dames offense only put up 18 off offensive drives. 35 points were due to the defense and special teams. 3 int putting the offense in the redzone, fumble recovery for a TD, and kick return for a TD. Had the defense and special teams not have had one of those nights, they very well could have been beat bad.

Duke vs florida state next week is huge for Notre dame. I think duke is getting blown out but my dad thinks they have a shot, if duke by some miracle beats Florida State notre dames schedule just got a WHOLE lot more impressive.
