This interviewer was excellent in helping Hanna access her memories. some interviewers are lifeless and painful asking yes/no questions and the same ‘do you remember’ questions which shut down the conversation.

There is such sensitivity in this testimony while we share an experience of the desolation and distress of so many human beings. All because of the delicate personality of Hannah Pankowsky. A wonderful and refined personality. 6 hours of testimony is nothing compared to the months and years of doubts, fears, struggles that the whole of Hannah's family had to endure. Thank you so much for this devotion, this gift, this generosity that I felt through this testimony. May life smile on you until the last day as you did with us almost constantly while sharing your testimony.

5:12 "What would you like to tell future generations? Open your eyes. Material things are not as important as is life itself. If I had chosen to have my things I wouldn’t be alive. Do your best. Even on the darkest day, maybe the light will come through.” I am impressed in this interview about Hanna's parents' resiliency skills honed over their early lifetimes (dad fleeing Communist Russia and Sofia's advanced art education in Munich from Lodz Poland). Hanna's father's optimism, courage to see the truth about what was happening and then act and his pursuit of recreating himself in different countries empowered his whole family to press on under duress. Hanna's description of post-war strain (continual goodbyes, having to make strategic decisions, lack of hope/opportunities, boredom and post-traumatic stress) was both grievous and an untold story of survival. Hanna's clarity, sometimes sense of humor, composure and gentleness were a gift to encounter. May God bless her memory!

I found the book on Amazon and ordered straight away. How nice to see Mrs Pankowsky’s granddaughter wrote a brief review. I watched six hours and I will watch again. I could listen to Hannah Pankowsky all day. Six hours flew by. Oh, and your baby Helen grew up to be so beautiful and proud of you. I’m sure you’re proud of her. And the paintings! Immediately when I saw the “Lost Butterfly” painting, I thought of the brooch. Where is the gallery that I may view the Sofia Davidson collection? I would travel to see. I love every one shown, and googled and saw more, including the one (mentioned) from a trilogy featuring Mrs Golda Meir. It’s brilliant! Please, I do hope that I get a reply. This narrative has awakened me to so much. I want to know more.

This sweet, beautiful little lady; so gracious in her home, surrounded by the beauty of art........and the interviewer showed up in a t-shirt. Good grief. Verbally he did a better job than a lot, but how you dress to go to someone's home is also about respect. Hanna passed away on January of 2020. Just a sweet person.

Miło słyszeć język polski bez angielskiego akcentu. Wzbudza to we mnie poczucie wspólnoty kulturowej z Panią Pankowski.

What a beauty woman! I KNOW how hard things are when a person is in medical school, but I hated to hear that Hannah's husband sent her out alone, broke, pregnant, scared and with no way too communicate in NY to find a place to live. Also, he should have seen to it that she met at least ONE person in the entire city for company, help and to answer her many questions. He could have called a Synagogue or one of the Jewish agencies- there were several in a city that big after the war. I am glad she had her baby to be with, but how lonely she was! Sad... Also, as you heard, they got to Mexico flat broke and instantly looked for work. Contrast what is happening now- as long as the Dems lure people here with FREE everything, they have no incentive to work for a living. Some actually have enough integrity to work to support themselves- some... The rest are never going to bite the hand that feeds them when it's time to vote- we need WELFARE reforms AND immigration reforms. If Hanna did it, they can, too! Salute Hanna!

I understand the two dictator...but apart when a person was interrogated seems like she did not fear for her life like she did in Germany, even crossing a street was dangerous in Germany!!!

Thank you Hanna. For your sacrifices and for sharing your amazing story. I pray and believe it truly makes a difference to make people aware of the truth. Your daughter is to be proud of but she does talk too much. I would much rather have had you discuss the paintings. She is a bit self centered.
@hilaryc32034 жыл бұрын
You thought the daughter is self centred? Why? Her daughter briefly shared the impact of the knowledge she's gained from this interview. How is that self centred when she continued to answer questions they directed at her. She is eloquent, a good orator and so proud of her mother. Don't muzzle women when they have something to say, and FFS, she only spoke at the end after Mom spoke for hours so no doubt she was fatigued and reason dictates that they asked the daughter in to chat about family life. They DID discuss the paintings. This is a family sharing the memories of the grandmother and her art, and her dead son at the end. A family, not robots. Hanna passed away in January of 2020 so what a wonderful memory for her daughter to have of this day.
