One of the BEST reviews Ive watched EVER, all categories. Such a good detailed and beautiful review. Watched it on my big tv because the quality was so good. Thank you very much man. I did skate a lot when I was younger but for the most of the time I always did it alone because my friends only rided skateboards, I did to when I was with them but I really did not like it that much. I felt so free when I was cruising around with my USD Thrones, It was like a high. Im just over 30 now and I had a pretty rough time the last couple of years and just felt I need to do what I really like and enjoy, I dont need to ride a skateboard anymore just because everybody else does. The only thing right now that I really want to do is skate, I have not had ANY motivation at all. BUT I just want to skate. So I decided to buy a pair and someone mentioned USD Aeon and now I watched this fantastic review of them. I SWEAR when I say that the joy I feel when Im riding skates is the best feeling ever. Have not done it in MANY years but now is the time to pick them up again. Im going to order them this week and start riding again in the spring when the snow is gone. Thank you very much for reviewing these in this way, it is perfect for beginners and people that have not been skating in many years. Your the best, keep doing what you do!

Thank you for the great review 👍 I would just add the USD has just released at least 5 new skates in the UK market but not even one type of shell replacement for the AEON. It hasn't been possible to buy a new shell for the Aeon in months! Clearly USD strategy is to push people to buy a brand new skate every 6/12 months rather than replace the shell only. For this reason alone I would give a score of 'zero wheels' to USD despicable marketing strategy at times of Covid 19😠

Best Aeon review i have seen. I’ve got two pairs and agree with everything you’ve said here. Upgrading to the myfit second skin liner or just buying the pro model with them in will make alot of difference, especially when heat moulded. The trick with Aeons if you are skating flat if deffo a bullet profile, ideally something like a 58mm 50/50 90a or like a konjure cosmic, will give you way less chance of wheel bite on angle iron. Amazing skates.

My shoe size is a US 6.5 mens, narrow feet and I'm pretty skinny, and I'm looking at the 5.0 -6.0 size in these, do you think these would work size wise? Do you think these would fit a narrow foot? Great review! I got these from Loco in the summer and I really like them. I agree about the liner and don't use them. I could live with the liner if it could have been laced up at the top. As a beginner at grinding I can always find a way to wheel bite even on anti-rocker, ha! I also have the large Oysi frames and enjoy them (but have also found ways to get wheel bite). I enjoy skating flat (or banana rocker) too much to switch to anti-rocker so the Aeons and Oysi are my favorite options!

This video was exactly what I was looking for. I’m currently skating Them 908s and I like them but it’s been a struggle getting them to where I’m at now. I wanted to support Jon when they were released but now I wish I would have gone with some Aeons. I was looking for a lighter skate than my Razors Genesys Stockwells from back in the day. I might keep my 908s as my tinker skates and get some Aeons now. Do you happen to know anything about the Team XXI version? I’m probably one of the only people that doesn’t really like a liner that laces. I hate having to lace my skates twice and the liner laces seem to create uncomfortable spots when I’ve used them before. So I’m unsure about getting a MyFit liner vs the stock one that comes in the basics. Keep up the great work! Appreciate the videos.

Glad you think they're decent. I bought a pair last week to get back into skating after 20 years. 5 days in and I'm locking grinds I couldn't do 20 years ago. I used to ride flat on 5th elements, and they were ground breaking at the time, but these just blow me away. I wanted to skate flat, never liked antirocker and wanted that manoeuvrability. After watching Lino's video I was sold on these, the massive H block gap and the soul plates... in the 90s we would have considered them cheating. Anyway, I am a size 9.5 US men's and bought the 8-9. I'm finding the toes going a bit numb still after maybe 5 x 1 hour sessions. If this doesn't go away, would an Intuition liner help reduce that? One thing I dont understand is I bought these and they just called them Basic, but then there is a Basic 2 out there and I've seen a model with rockable cuffs, not sure the differences between the models. Would be good to have that maybe in the description - unless I missed it in the review. Are there wheels ypu would recommend for these when the existing wear out?
@ThirtyandRollin3 жыл бұрын
Haha ya these would be a "cheater skate" in the 90s but I am ok with that now. I need all the help I can get to do grinds without killing myself. Intuitions could help but just depends on how big your foot is just sitting in the shell. As for the Basics vs Basic 2 versions I am not 100% sure on differences. USD seems to like to pump more version of theses than iPhones every year lol. I would recommend some 58mm bullet profile wheels like the 50/50s or Konjure Kosmics.

This is why I insist on keeping separate economies in our household, only pooling money into an account for true shared expenses. I even insisted on this system at the time when I earned considerably less than her. Having someone tell me what I can and cannot do with my own money is not acceptable to me, and I would never, ever want to interfere with how she spends her hard earned money, as long as she pays her part of the shared expenses. I see so many couples hating each other over money issues.

Not sure if you'll respond to this comment, but I've been inline skating for around 8 years now and I've never really thought about trying to do aggressive skating until now. I've been looking for a good pair. One thing that I really don't understand is that on a lot of aggressive skates there are only 2 wheels or 4 but 2 of them are really small like the Roces M12. Not sure if those are important or not or what they do. Please let me know. Thanks!
@ThirtyandRollin3 жыл бұрын
Those are called anti rocker wheels. They allow a lager space for grinding. No wheel bite either. That's when your wheel catches and tosses you if you are rolling 4 down. Down side is it's a slower setup and you cannot lean into turns you have to pick your feet up to turn. Hope this helps.

@thirty and rollin , I have those skates. I like them but over time I have developed a burning pain on the inside of my right ankle. Left ankle is fine. Currently off skating, healing hopefully. Also, I wish I were as good as you are, great style and technique!
@tyriddle883 жыл бұрын
I have this same problem right on the inside ankle bone on my right skate and my left feels great. I’ve tried heat molding and a few other things just haven’t had the time to go skate to see if it helps any .

Wow, I wonder if this is a known issue on the inside right ankle. I will pay extra attention to it.

@@ThirtyandRollin guys, I got the solution!!! So what I did is actually cut out a decent chunk of plastic on the inside (just above the highest lace eyelet until just above the hole for the cuff bolt). Result? Unbelievable! My skates are finally ultra fun and comfortable! And I just kept the same cheap stock liner. It was all due to that but of plastic that was putting pressure every time I was forward flexing. I used a Stanley knife and worktop for the job. Took me about 10mn.

I feel like there needs to be some warning with these boots. A LOT of people end up getting bone bruising on their inner ankles from the shells. I've had 2 pairs, the second pair I got (Sam Crofts) severly bruised my inner left ankle. I tried absolutly everything to sort it out with no success. I switched the THEMs and couldn't be more happy.

Great video. I noticed you said these skate aren’t the best for a wide foot. I have a wide foot is this skate going to kill my feet or should I look else where? If so any recommendations. Does anybody out there have some thoughts on wide skates. I used to skate xsjados and was thinking of getting some but they seem different now.

You may be ok. If you have them try them on. I would recommend the Sways or 5th Elements for a wider foot.

Depending on where it's at you could try heat molding the boot.

I really do not know what to go for between Aeon and M12 Lo, I have never owned either of these. What would you suggest. Honestly I do not skate since years and years and I would like to get an aggressive pair and a freestyle one. About the freestyle one I think I would go for the twisted edge x maybe or maybe USD Aeon 80 (way too expensive both of'em) (when I would be able to buy both obviously) and struggling as well for the aggressive pairs Aeon or M12. What would you suggest for freestyle and aggressive? Thanks for making these video, and I am assure you , you are making people rollin again or rollin for the first time! Cheers!

what are some wheel options to put on the aeon's, in your opinion, to prevent wheel bite?

Any wheel with a bullet profile. I would even go for a smaller 58mm size. I think my next wheels on these may be from Konjure or 50/50.

Just got mine in the size 36-38 (my shoe size is 36.5-37) they do feel very tight to my feet tho, is it normal or is it better to get a bigger size? maybe in a few weeks they might start to fit better, but, idk what I should do now
@ThirtyandRollin3 жыл бұрын
You want tight skates. A loose skate is no good. Just as long as it doesn't hurt. They will break in after about 10hrs skate time.

@@ThirtyandRollin they just hurt the top of my feet, not my toes, maybe it’s just cause I’m not used to it. I guess a size 39-40 will be too big for me haha.
