Nice one thanks. I used to skate Randy spizer thrones when I was young, learnt most tricks on those after having rices khuti which I also loved as a stable skate. I’m glad that industry is alive and well

Very lucky to have met Nick lomax and he told me to put the top strap the other way round so you don't have to cut it with a knife.

I've been very happy with Aoens. On my second pair. The ones with the leather upper(mery) seem to fit better. I had to heat and bend the top up on the basics to clear the top of my toe. Only negative is you should probably get the sliqx plates and the stock wheels are trash.

The older style cuffs are very stiff on the forward flex because the rear of the boot was in direct contact with the cuff, the boot flaps under the cuff had to bend in order for forward flex to occur. The old cuff can be made to have more forward flex by removing the rear of the boot that intersects with the cuff. This new cuff has a gap/space so that it does not intersect the flaps of the boot when it's in the up position. It can be made more stiff on the forward flex by rockering the cuff down to the lower position, which will create more intersection/friction between the cuff and the boot (buckle can also intersect esp with thick tongue). This is the same for Them909. It's counter intuitive. I expected the cuff to feel more stiff in the up position, but it's actually more flexible up b/c there's less intersection with the boot of the Aeon & 909. The intersection is not just in the back, but also in the front, the buckle intersects with the liner when the cuff is lower. From my research, people are split on which cuff they like better, therefore I think it's smart they have a new cuff offering so people can choose their preference. It's still easy to find the older cuff if you want the forward flex to be very stiff, and the new cuff can be lowered to stiffen forward flex. Some claim that lateral flex has also changed between the cuffs, but there is another factor in this. Lateral flex changes depending on the height of the heel pad. No heel pad will be the most stiff, effectively making a higher cuff (in relation to your ankles). The thinner old style heel pad is in the middle, and new heel pad will feel like the lowest cuff. This is an important distinction regarding cuff height. If the cuff is low in relation to the boot, it usually stiffens, whereas the cuffs low in relation to your ankles usually adds mobility. It took me a bit to wrap my mind around this, but without this understanding you'll just be guessing about whether to rocker a cuff up or down, and how much to lift the heel (of course there are other reasons to lift or lower the heel as well). So, low cuff in relation to your ankle usually adds flex, but cuff rockered down (or mounted lower on the boot in a fixed position) usually stiffens (even if it's at the same time lower to your ankle because of this lower position). The liner will shift more during forward flex with less (or no) heel lift and older style cuff, and shift very little during forward flex with the new thick heel pad and new cuff. This is the main reason I prefer the new cuff and new heel pad. With less ankle travel to lean forward (taller heel) and less intersection between cuff and boot, the liner stays in place. With less liner/boot shifting and less resistance against my ankles it feels more natural. Some skaters might feel out of control with this more natural mobility. The skates can feel more united to your feet when there is less mobility. When forward flex occurs without resistance, the feeling is less supportive, the liner/boot feel more united while your feet/ankles feel free to move. With the older cuff (and unmodified boot and lower heel) I could feel the liners shifting within the boot when I leaned forward while pushing off and positioning for grinds. The new setup reminds me of original Remz and Salomons, while the older version feels more like a standard hardboot. It's amazing to me that they achieved an ergonomic effect with this new Aeon cuff because looking at the skate, it doesn't seem like that would be possible. I use 44/45 2nd skin in 43/44 shells. It's a bit narrow but next to perfect in my opinion. I ride all three wheel sizes for different purposes. For a new aggressive skater 60mm is best, but experienced skaters can do everything on 72mm if they are having a good day and the groove is a little worn in. 80mm is limited for aggressive, but some basic grinds can be achieved on some obstacles. I like that the wheel base for all 3 is about 270mm and the boot identical, it's easier to switch between without an awkward adjustment. I can also learn tricks on 60mm and then usually take them to 72mm.

I use the old version of the Aeon 80’s. I love them. The original liner was horrible. Uncomfortable and slid around a lot so I put some fat boy liners in. I find I can get the cuff tight enough to how I like it but I’m closing it tightly compared to normal I think. I like that the roof of the toe box is low (compared to my RB’s) so I feel I have good control. I don’t like how super high the toe box on my RB’s are. I use Revolver wheels instead of the spinners they came with but I’d say the original bearings feel the best I’ve ever used. I use revolver bearings on other skates and they’re great too but these wicked bearings (or perhaps it’s the fixed frame) just make these feel very fast. Great skates. I do skate aggressive but not grinding yet. The 80s feel like it may be harder to learn because the h block is quite small.

Perhaps you can help me in some way persuade USD/Poweslrslide to produce Aeons for ppl with size 13-14/47-48 feet? The Aeon is my favorite style aggressive skate but tragically my foot is 1 size to large to wear them; 30cm/300mm and wide. How mighy I be able to convince them into investing in a larger mold production? -Kory Birmingham, AL, USA

As a curiosity: the Aeon is not the first unibody skate. Roces Tokyo had a boot+frame mold (though no soulplate since it's pre-aggressive).

I was hoping you would stop to describe the wheel size and frame height difference T_T Can't choose between 72s and 80s, because I want to go fast, but royale is my fav trick. Anyway I have a pair of RB with 60 wheels for grinding, so I guess the bigger the better. Didn't see anyone doing decent royale on Aeon 80s....

@@robsongodoybello I used a translator to translate your message, but you could have used English for easier communication, I don't speak Portuguese. I bought 80's and they're great, but I also would be happy with 72's too. If I was younger, I'd definitely buy 72's as I was jumping and grinding more. But 80mm wheels really help with awful asphalt that we have and paved roads also. Greetings from Russia!

By the way the flaps on the cuff are made like that deliberately. The idea being you can cut down to size (like you did) as needed. It even has lines on the inside to cut 🙂 Also I've not had good experiences with the metal buckles from USD, the ones I've used in the past are really noisy. The springs don't seem to be strong enough to hold the extra weight of the metal buckle perfectly still and it vibrates as you skate. Like mentioned in the video FR metal buckles would be good if you want metal. Thanks for the video, some interesting stuff in here! 🙏

Heyy I see the (cut)lines indeed. Not sure if it is made for cutting because its also on the outer flap. The funny thing is that I also got to the max and so i thought I had it wrong so i put the right flap (on left skate under the other flap instead of over) that works also and now I dont know if its meant that way.. Somebody shine a light on this?
@chilli-iceolive-abode24472 жыл бұрын
@@arnoutstaalman4926 hey, you can see what I mean in this video from USD kzbin.info/www/bejne/j53LXoiNf9Kll5Y at 7:33 As for the flaps on most skates I find if the flaps are a certain way they'll only close to a certain point before catching something. On most of my skates you want to put the flap on the outside of your foot side under the inside side flap to allow it close as much as possible which tbh only matters if you need to close it that far. Hope that makes sense!
