Hi mate, thank you for this video. I did this mod to my car a few months ago and lost the instructions. I wanted to revert back to UK standard but couldn't up until today. I just followed your instructions backwards and voila :). Also just to mention when you were doing the second side you had to set one of the values from 0 to 127. I'm not sure what the name was but you did it to the first side. Maybe add a video annotation at that point so if someone else is watching they are aware of this. It's around 02:30 in the video. Hi from across the pond. Actually, our USDM cars come from the factory with the same style running lights as ROW cars such as yours - that is, the white UU lights. While there are quite a few manufacturers that build cars that use the amber indicators as full-time running lights (DRLs), the Golf R isn't one of them. Still, a fun mod. Cheers!

Usdm indicators are not illegal I must stress this. There’s actually a few cars with this option enabled already front factory tend to higher class things. However I’ve spoken to a traffic copper and he confirmed it’s not illegal at all 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿

If you have normal blb not led as indicator it melts your headlights not safe

You can adjust the brightness, which in turn lowers the heat, had them on my mk5 gti. Gonna do this to my mk7!

7 GTD here, the R lights are built differently. Someone on reddit disassembled ours once, the inner ring is no light bulb apparently

That is how these indicators operate, it was part of the reason why I removed the coding for my personal car. I'm sure if you did enough digging online you'd find a solution though. Thanks for the comment

Yeah the blinkers function, instead of initiating by lighting up, they initiate by dimming, and then they blink as normal

Hello, the OBDEleven can be used across most VAG models, the best thing to do would be to Google OBDeleven and then the model of the car, most of the time a forum will pop up!

actually its not illegal to do this, many import bikes run with this as standard. also how do big rigs get around having front lights all over them. Facts are the only lights you can't have on the front are flashing other than indicators, and red light. You CAN have steady blue green orange white. police don't like you having steady blues, but as long as it don't flash they won't bother you. as long as they dim at night but flash at full brightness and flash normally in daytime and reset to drl then it is fine. gonna do this to my jeep as its far to euro spec. lol

Standard version £42.99 Pro version is £119.99 Standard version can be used to make changes with "credits" that can be bought or earned. I'm using the Pro version where you can do long coding (no need for credits). It depends on how much you're wanting to do as to whether it's worth getting the Pro version. Search OBD Eleven in Amazon, and both options will be there

They're classed as indicators so they can confuse other road users if they glance over and see say your left indicator on

They do look good yeah. DRLS don't necessarily have to be solid white, they just don't have to be the indicators 😂, plenty of people run them like this and don't get any issues from the 5-0

Don't do this on UK spec cars as your bulb will melt into the holder and you'll have trouble taking it out. Also, you will get pulled by coppers.. it may/may not be illegal in the UK but it will get you pulled. Personally, I'd think it would be illegal as your indicators can only be on as a turn signal or as hazard lights, anything is an MOT failure. If it's an MOT failure then obviously it's a fault that the coppers can pull you for.
