You can no longer buy a Victorinox Manager (I think easily one of the best SAKs ever!), but you can still make your own using a donor Rambler and some accessory parts that you can purchase online. Do it… do it now! 👍

So glad I picked up a Manager before they were discontinued. Great job customising the Rambler, it just goes to show that when the official manufacturer stop making something, third parties will jump into the void created - in this case with the scales for the pen.

Thank you for commenting 😃 The Manager is so fantastic for urban use - possibly my favourite SAK, still can’t believe they discontinued it! The replacement pen scales are becoming a bit more scarce to buy now, and the little grey inserts the pen sits in and the ballpoint pen refills themselves even more so.

Did this myself a few weeks ago. Ended up paying as much for the scales and pen slider (available separately) as I did for the Rambler! Worth it though as I'm less worried about carrying my factory made Manager in case I lose it. The other option would be to get a Midnight Manager and replace the torch scale with one from a Classic... I always have an Olight or Rovyvon on the keyring anyway and they blow the Midnight light out of the water.

Yeah the parts needed to make the pen scales are becoming scarce and expensive! I considered butchering a Midnite Manager (I do have one) but that’d be a very expensive way to get a standard Manager. I agree about the little LED on the MM - even my phone makes a better flashlight. Although it can be very convenient having a small light right on your keychain, but, as you say, there’s dozens of much better keychain lights available. Thank you for the comments! 👍🙂

Nice work. I also wanted the manager, but settled for a rambler and hoped to do this later .I was able to find the pen scales, but not the slider before a new old stock Manager still in the box popped up on eBay. I grabbed it but still might do this to my original rambler if I can find the slider piece for the pen

Well that’s a very good question and if anyone knows where there are any available I’d been keen to hear too! I e had a look in the last few days and they seem to be very hard to find now - I’d try eBay or Etsy. I don’t seem to be able to find them anywhere else ☹️

Now i feel bad I mod my red manager to make a green rambler 😢 didn't know they were discontinued Modding the manager and getting scales was cheaper than a rambler in my country at the time

I would like to build a Vagabond with pen scales but Vagabond's are way over the top in price and I just settle for a Manager and the price on those have shot up huge

Vagabond looks cool, but for me the Manager just has the perfect balance of tools to size 👍 Such a pity they’ve discontinued it!! 😠

Just depends on what you want I suppose. Personally I’m not a fan of the Minichamp - too many redundant tools! The cuticle pusher (aka cocaine spoon! lol), the TINY ruler, the ‘orange peeler’… they’re all a bit daft and pointless imho: personally I think the manager has the perfect tiny toolset 👌 But different folks like different things 🤷‍♂️✌️

Some folks LOVE the Minichamp but the extra tools are just a bit unnecessary imho 🤷‍♂️👍

Is it possible to get midnight manager and change it with scale from jetsetter to get same thing?

Hmm, wasn’t totally sure what u mean, but the Midnite Manager and the Jetsetter both have different toolsets than the Manager. I personally think the Manager has the best toolset and the only way to get that now would be to use a Rambler and put the pen mechanism scales on it. The Midnite Manager has the pen scales already and the same tools as the Manager but it has extra tools as well, although for me personally the extra tools are a bit unnecessary. I do like the Jetsetter too but that does not come with the pen mechanism scales as standard, but it would make a cool little knife if u put the pen scales from a Midnight Manager on to it. It’s pretty easy swapping the scales 👍

Ah, I see! 😂 Yes, you could put the scale from a Jetsetter (or any other 58mm model) onto the Midnite Manager! 👍👍

I used to get them from a shop in Germany (Schwesser messer store), but they don’t seem to have much of anything left at present and these pen scales do seem to be becoming much harder to find now, but there’s quite a few sellers on eBay and Etsy selling them.
