I remember a while ago, I tried using a lot of this same software to use my cv1 controllers with my Quest 2 to no avail. I followed this video replacing the quest pro with the cv1, and it works perfectly (apart from the controllers being unable to vibrate fast enough on some of the faster beat saber levels). The tracking is pretty much flawless and even better than the Quest 2 controllers latency-wise, as I would expect.

I have a Reverb G2, so I'm always looking for better tracking. Sadly this process is too long for me. I don't want to make my setup time any longer than it already is. Plus my Quest 2 just hates connecting to my PC and only works 1/10 times. When a way arises to directly connect the controllers to PC I'll be all over that. Unless it also has a long setup process.

There must be some way to use ALVR/ALXR to do this more easily. If this way works using a second headset, you could add them as an OpenXR input in some way (with some sort of adapted Quest client), like you can have separate hand tracking controllers using an UltraLeap, so it wouldn't need the indirection of the Oculus runtime (as it wouldn't be involved). You could then even add extra ones as trackers per headset and controllers you have available (crazy expensive that would be). Though it would be much better if they just offered some way to pair the controllers directly to a pc (though i dont see that happening with the death of the Rift).
@raeldor Жыл бұрын
I would love to be able to do this, but I seriously doubt Meta will open the controllers up that much. They make money on the software, not the hardware, and I don't think there's much money to be made in selling controller hardware only. Very good video. After I bought the Pro controller, I found that the Pro controller is really easy to use. Without the cumbersome positioning base station that requires a power cord, the effect is very good and there is no positioning blind spot. However, the Quest 2 headset itself is really poor, with low resolution and FOV, and even the Quest 3 to be released at the end of the year does not seem to have much progress according to current news. I feel that the Quest 2 has limited the performance of my 4080. I have been using PC streaming to play VR games, so I am considering buying a PCVR device with much better image quality, such as Pimax. But I don't want to buy an extra set of base stations and Index controllers, the experience of the Pro controller has made me very satisfied, so I found this video and plan to practice it. I think self-tracking controllers like the Pro controller are the trend of the future. The Pro controller is much cheaper than three base stations and a pair of Index controllers, and there is room for further cost optimization. On this basis, the positioning effect is about the same, and no troublesome installation is required to keep the room tidy.

Can I ask, do you prefer the Quest Pro or the Pico? I recently purchased the Quest Pro and find it fantastic for PCVR but I have never used the Pico4. Am I missing out on anything?
@joshuadadad5414 Жыл бұрын
Mysticle has previous video answering this! It's the Quest pro- mostly because it has a handy charging pad so the device is always ready to pick up and go. Seb at MRTV on the other hand prefers the visuals of the Pico4 due to the better resolution and binocular overlap. Pico 4 was probably better for PCVR for a long time but with recent advancements such as eye tracking and local dimming supported by PCVR on Pro the tables may have turned. Once wifi 6e is enabled on the Pro I suspect you will have the outright winner (albiet at a higher price) so no need for buyer's remorse.

Hey! im really hoping you read this comment and possibly could use the info here. this is regarding your video on low-end PCVR usage, i think there's a few things you missed and here i wrote a guide for you of things to try. if any of these produce better results, i think you should totally do a follow-up video. as someone with a GTX 1650 GPU and only 8 gigs of ram (4 of Vram), i wanted to come in and give you my experience, and how im able to play something like the RE8 VR mod somewhat consistently (haven't finished it, so there could be a part of the game my GPU struggles with, ill find out. also note: these tips are mainly for steamVR games on quest 2.) when i first got this laptop, i was a bit disappointed i couldnt run vr games well, like the forest. they could *run*.. but any graphically-demanding game would have a low FPS when i ran them with airlink or link. RE8 vr mod ran like garbage even with 20% resolution and 72hz, AND VRperfkit installed with 60% render res. experimented with oculuskiller because i heard it helped performance (only having to use SteamVR composite instead of oculus and steamvr, etc) but it felt like it did NOTHING. tried open composite, but experienced an error when launching any game, so i couldn't really use it. recently, i made a discovery. i used ALVR this time (virtual desktop could have similar results but i havent tried it), and it gave me a HUGE performance boost! i can now run the re8 vr mode on native resolution, even when i got to the village (which is where last time it started running bad), and i can run greenhell VR on high(er) settings even though i dont think i even hit minimum settings. i feel like oculus airlink (and link) hold you back a lot, running both steamVR and oculus dashboard takes a HUGE toll in performance, and oculus hasn't given oculus dashboard much attention lately so its probably unoptimized as hell. also quick tip (might apply to VD but i did this with ALVR): DON'T increase the res on ALVR (or VD). that slows you down a lot. just keep it at native or lower it if you have to. you can get away with increasing steamVR res a lot more than you would with ALVR (and, maybe, VD). thanks for reading.
